My first revolver! Alaskan .44 mag

Try some Remington UMC 44 magnum 180 grain. They are a hoot!!

I own 3 Ruger Customized .44mag Single Actions but do want one Alaskan. I have a 2 1/2" S&W cut down to round butt dimensions with boot grips and really love it. The grip on the Alaskan looks a little large(elongated). Did you ever take the grip off and if you did is it possible to get a smaller (shorter boot style)grip put on it. Please let me know. From the Ruger manual it is hard to tell if the revolver can be fit with a shorter grip. I e-mailed Hogue but they didn't answer as of yet
 
The Ruger GP100 Compact grip will fit the Alaskan. And are smaller and more round at the bottom of the grip. The Compact grip uses the same grip inserts as the SP101.
The GP and Super Redhawk grips are interchangeable.
