My first Kydex holster

Tunnelrat, you can pay a lot for it (as some outlets will really poke you in the eye for it and over price it) I found a super secret local source were I bought an armload by the pound and paid only $6 for tan, grey and black in thicknesses from .06" to .125"

If you were to buy 1 sq/ft of .09 thk Kydex from Tandy leather you will pay about $15 (before shipping)

That same 12 by 12 piece from Knifekits.com is only $4.76 (less if you my in volume)

There are even better online deals to be found if you look around (ebay) and if you have a local plastic supplier it even less expensive. It’s a pretty low cost medium and anybody making kydex holsters or knife sheaths in quantity they are not paying much for the raw material but then you have to factor in the Chicago screws or grommets and then the press and the blue guns and most importantly the labor.

I got around to making a holster for the extra mag. I wrapped it with tape to make it a little bigger so it would not be too tight a fit. The rest of the pics are pretty much self explainitory.

DIY,

Very nice tutorial, thanks.
self explanatory by the pictures indeed !

May I ask you which kind of foam you were using ??

From the pictures, it looks like neoprene !? Can you confirm ?
If neoprene, could you tell which thickness and density ?

I would like to make an IWB holster for a H&K P2000.
You infos can be very helpfull.

Will appreciate your answer.

Cheers,

Christian

Looks great!

I've found that a couple layers of tape over the entire gun will greatly reduce friction vs. molding directly to the metal. If you fill in the trigger guard before molding, it's easy to add the right amount of retention afterward with a heat gun and a gentle pinch.

YMMV

Great job on the holster, terrific blow by blow pictures, a suggestion, make the Mag pouch shorter, to get a quicker grip of the magazine.
