My first AR

As you ca see here it is too wide to fit between the ears

I adjusted the front site with a nail, but it was very tedious

Crow Hunter
It is the same brand as the one in your link (UTG). But it is only A2 instead of A1/A2 like the one in your link. The one in your link looks like it has a tool on both ends (one for A1 and one for A2?). Mine only has the notches on one end.

So does the M&P 15 Have an A1 front sight?

Thanks

tool...

The tool usually has 4 notches on one side and I believe 5 on the other.

The M&P is a good mid-grade AR; you did fine. The important part is enjoying your purchase!

No, the M&P-15 has an A2 front sight post. (The A1 sight post has 5 notches in it and a round post, compared to the A2's four notches and square post.)

Each requires a separate tool, unless you use a bullet tip, in which case the "tool" is the same... :D

I think you got a bum sight tool some how. Both the A1/A2 fit on my Colt 6920 but only one end fits the crenelations. So even if you had a A1 sight, it should still fit.

I can't tell from the pictures is it hitting the ears on the outside diameter of the tool or are you missing the "holes" with the crenelations and it isn't going all the way in?

When I was in the Army we just used a pen or a spare firing pin to adjust the front sights. Of course the front sight probably have changed in the past 40 years.
