My First Appleseed -- full report

This was the first strike of the match. That's me in the front left.

Here's another sighted square.

Will upload some more later. Had school registration today and I'm kinda tired.

Hey, Mosin - I was there, too. With my nephew. I'm at the end of your row, and shot that long-barreled CZ bolt gun. Too bad I didn't put your face with your TFL handle; would've been good to chat.

You mentioned (I'm guessing in jest) the instructors might've thought you were the weakest one there, but I think that's far from the truth. I saw a very serious and capable student, and likely they did too.

I agree with your assessment of the Appleseed clinic. It was a well-spent 3 days. My nephew and I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Glad you enjoyed it, too.

Ha! What a coincidence! I wondered if there would be any TFL members there. I thank you for your compliment too. I didn't see how your nephew was shooting but didn't you make rifleman? I recall someone with a CZ did. If it was you, nice shooting! I hope to see you at one of the future ones aswell!

Yep - I made Rifleman. I flirted with it on my 1st 3 tries, but, running a bolt gun, I was running out of time on the seated and prone stages trying to get off perfect shots. When I finally figured out that my 10 shots only needed to be "good enough" in those stages, I made Rifleman with room to spare.

My nephew didn't make Rifleman, but, more importantly, he was improving all through the 3 days, and finished up with his highest 2 AQT scores. I was proud of him. :D

Ugh. That's why Appleseed does not appeal to me. I'd love tips for brushing up my technique but sitting through that...

"Those who do not know History are doomed to repeat it."

I know a bit about History, and her lessons are expensive. Others have paid the price, and you can learn for FREE ...... or not ...... the "TLDNR" crowd must have really deep pockets .......

Congrats. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

I grew up shooting, qualified twice a year in the military with the M-16 and .38 revolver, then the 9 MM pistol. Shoot a lot at home, etc., but I know there is always room for improvement.

Buffalo Wing watched me shoot and gave me some pointers and I improved my shooting. Never to old to learn new stuff when you are interested in it.

So after about 4 hours of history, review, and instruction.

That's what I thought, until I went to my first Appleseed event, but I was wrong. The instructors do a great job with the history; and the point of it, really, is to remind us (and teach those who don't know) about why we have the rights we enjoy in this country, and why they matter.
