My first 1911....suggestions?

I think I'm going to get the Ruger. Ramped and fully supported barrel, 4lb trigger, stainless, chf nitride barrel. My LGS has one I handled today along with a COLT DE, Remington Hunter, and some $3200 Wilson Combat. The Ruger has what I want in features, if it shoots I will be satisfied....and for $735

Good choice Stats Shooter. If I were going to buy one today for under $750, the Ruger would be my first choice. They're customer service has been excellent in my experience as well, plus a great warranty.

I learned long ago, price is an indicator of quality, but not the final word on it. I handled the Remington hunter ($1019), the COLT DE, and a $3200 Wilson Combat. If I hadn't seen the price tags, I would have ranked it 2nd behind the Wilson Combat and the Remington last based upon fit/finish, trigger pull, and other feel factors. I obviously couldn't shoot them and that's where it really counts.

Would definitely look at what Springfield has to offer. Never fired their 10mm but highly impressed with the 45 ACP.
