My experience with Wilsons Combat :(

I do not have a problem with rudeness or anger expressed in a complaint. The "buck" does stop with me, as far as I'm concered. I do have a problem with it directed TOWARD ME. I will point out that distinction right away, in order to continue the assistance. If the attitude continues to be misdirected, then I would tell you to call back when you've had a chance to diffuse a little.
By "demeaning", I mean that conduct which goes above and beyond what is pertinent to the complaint. References to my integrity, ethnicity, or heritage, for example. Also, when you disparage the character of my employer in some manner, again, that which is wholely unrelated to your problem.
I'm sorry if I was unclear in my earlier reply. :)

Daddycat If you think that you still have a problem with Wilsons you should call and ask to speak with Bill or his son Ryan.I am sure that if one of his people acted out of line they would want to know and it should be brought to there attention.I have dealt with Wilsons several times and have always been treated great. With Colt no longer doing much with the 1911 the smaller companies like Wilsons,Baer,Brown etc have had their orders increase. The last time I talked to Wilsons they were taking over 500 calls a day. If you think you got a raw deal, try working with the rip off artists and scum bags over at Kimber. The truth just ain't in those folks. Not that I am bitter or anything like that.

If you want honest open communications and absolutely no BS try Brian Bilby. He probably would do the work for a heck of a lot less money, he won't feed you a line, and the pistol will be right when it leaves. If something slips by him (and it rarely does) he will make it right immediately with no hassles. I know, he fixed my Kimber after the bozos in Yonkers screwed it up, twice.

DaddyCat: everyone screws up now and again. For me, the issue is what they do when that happens.

At the end of your dealings with Wilson, you got, what, $200 of parts and service for free? And you're still mad at them? I'd say that $200 is a pretty decent apology.

I'd say you're even, not being an expert on such matters.
Let's review:
1. Wilson screwed up. Big.
2. You were irate.
3. You named what you said would make you happy.
4. They gave it to you.

Admittedly they skipped the part where they politely ask you what would make it right, but they did give it when asked. And it was $200 worth which seems like a lot to me, at least. I think it's pretty fair.

Well, I think its time to reply to some of these responses. First, a brief update: Its 4/18/00 and I have yet to receive the $200.00 from Wilson. I had the conversation with Wilsons rep I described in my original post on 4/11/00. I got the pistol back with a check enclosed for the barrel that they were unable to install, the check included 6.95 for a set of hex head screws. I guess they were out of these as well or they just never got around to putting them in.
Now, as far as ASSuming too much by not mentioning to their rep that my pistol has a ramped barrel. You may be sure that I will do so in the future, however, I don't believe that this was a far fetched assumtion. In their 2000 catalog under basic reliability work they have polish feed ramp and THROAT barrel. Why wouldn't I think that this top notch custom pistol shop would be able to handle this task?
Regarding my attitude and tone in discussing this issue with their rep: I conducted myself as a gentleman, I was assertive not aggressive. I'm a therapist by "trade" and I know the difference. I presented this as an institutional screwup not a personal one. In fact I have refrained from using this mans name in this post as I bear him no personal animosity, and I did ask him if he had been given bad information when he told me that the barrel had been installed. His reply? "I don't know, I'll have to follow up on that."
As far as reps who retaliate against customers who are angry with you and make a disparageing remark towards your employer, I think you are out out of line. If you ride for the brand you take the heat. In point of fact however I did neither of those things with this rep.
Rainbow six, thanks for your support. I think you have a good grasp of how I felt, also it was good seeing you at the range again. Thanks for letting me take your g33 for a spin!
If the check for the sights doesn't come today I will try calling Wilson himself as someone suggested. The pistol is improved in accuracy due to the slide to frame fit, however still isn't where I wanted it. I'll post an update soon. Again, thanks for all of your responses.
Good Shooting!
