My dreamgun finally comes home!

I've heard of... but never actually seen a Bren Ten. Thanx for posting the pic. The snout looks kinda like the giant metal S&W 45's or like a Browning HP. Maybe one of THOSE holsters will work...?

Looks like a handful either way.

Ben:
That's what I'm hoping. I have a Jackass rig, and older one that, designed for the S&W 439/459/639/659. The Bren fits that perfectly. Problem is, the mag carrier is too small, and I don't like the bigger straps. My S&W 4006 fits it perfectly, too (again, except for the mags.) Now, I'm hoping I can get the Miami Classic that fits the 4006 and use that, but Savannah is such a lousy town when it comes to gun shops that there's no way I'll find one to try out. I'd hate to spend that kind of money to find out I'm wrong.

I noticed you mentioned Savanah. I live in Atlanta... Lot's of great gun stores in the Metro area around here. If you ever get to venture into Marietta, you'll probably find what you need there. All the ranges I go to are in Marietta and Kennesaw.

What are you going to do with all those shoulder holsters when summer comes around? It's gonna be warm down there.

:)

Ben:
Well, being from NY, I'm used to wearing a sportcoat everyday, regardless of the weather. That's what I did last summer.

Being from Atlanta, perhaps you can answer a couple of questions: I go there on business several time a year (I work for the State) and I can see a gun shop from I-75 by the Farmers Market (I *think* exit 78) Is that a good place to go, and what's the name of that shop? How's Bernies up in Norcross? Any other good places? Thanks.

That Farmers Market hosts MANY gun shows per year... never been to it OR to Bernies. I visit Bernie's website all the time though.

I suggest "Roswell Gun Specialty"... they are VERY courteous, 100% return policy for the life of the gun and owner and I do ALL my business in there; BESIDES,their prices are good. I shoot at Pannels in Marietta / Woodstock. For shear variety, you can't beat Ed's Gun and Tackle... the prices are Canadian though.

Joe, There are two promoters that bring gunshows to the Atlanta metro area. One is Eastman, and the other is Georgia Mountain. I've been to many shows promoted by both outfits(including the Farmers Market facility), and they're both worthwhile. Eastman shows are a little larger and Georgia Mountain usually is part gun show and part survivalist or part computer show. Eastman has shows all over Georgia(including Savannah)and Georgia Mountain has begun to venture outside the metro Atlanta area as well. I'd recommend one of these gunshows if you're looking for variety, but no deals. The best prices I've found in my neck of the woods is HotShots in Smyrna, GA. If you want to check the gunshow schedules for Eastman and Georgia Mountain, they can be found at the following URLS: http://www.georgiamountain.com/
http://www.eastmangunshows.com/

Good luck......Dan in GA

I go to both when they're here in Savannah. In fact there's an Eastman show March 25-26. That's where I found the Bren Ten Last July. I know Georgia Arms displays at both shows and I've heard good things about their ammo. I plan to pick some up then. Georgia Mountain doesn't do too well here. Their shows have gotten progressively worse even in the last year, my first in Savannah. In fact, they cancelled the show here in August because there simply wasn't enough interest by dealers in buying table space for the show.

Savannah is an absolutely terrible city for gun shops. They're almaost always pawn shops, and either they have dreck or they charge an arm and a leg for stuff. Interesting note: Here in Savannah, all the pawns list their cost on the sales tickets in a code. Gemerally, it's a 10 letter word with the fist letter being 1, the second 2, etc. If you look long enough, you can break the code. That's what I did at the pawn & gun shop I frequent, so they tend to give me great deals, 'cause I know what they paid for it!

I appreciate it Dan.

Ben, There's also a terrific gun club up in Cummings called River Bend, and if you're an avid shooter and never visited River Bend, you should because they have the best facilities I've found around Atlanta.

Joe mentioned Georgia Arms ammo. They manufacture outstanding ammunition and I always pick some volume of their stuff up when I attend a gunshow in the Atlanta area. It's quality ammo at a terrific price and I use it for practice ammo exclusively. Their bulk stuff that comes in a can is dirt cheap, but I'd suggest you pick up 50 rounds in the caliber you're looking for to try it for yourself first.......Dan in GA
