My brother in action

I have second thoughts about a warning shot as well. Not sure what to think.
In one sense. If
A-telling the BG you are armed did not work
B-Drawing the fire arm did not work
C- Warning shot did not work
D- fatal shooting-Worked

What if C would have worked, but you went from B to D. This is going under assumption warning shot can be taken with no harm being done. Just wondering. A warning shot can be, Live saving for the BG and victim and also not put you in the situation that you just killed someone. I know I could sleep better knowing that I saved my Family or myself with a warning shot and at same time did not have to take some ones live to save mine. As my Mom always said-- You will answer before God at some point in time.

You could write a 500 page book detailing all of the things that happened leading up to and including the shooting event that the OP's brother was involved in. Yet, you still would not be able to capture the totality of the circumstances.

Would I say that I would absolutely never fire a warning shot? Or brandish a firearm and then not shoot? While I haven't been trained to react that way, the circumstances are going to dictate how I respond. There could be a number of reasons I wouldn't actually shoot an attacker. Perhaps the attacker turned his body and at the last minute before I complete my trigger pull (DAO), I realize that he is actually turning away and readying to run. I might try to miss and claim it was a warning shot later.

The point is that all kinds of things are happening in a dynamic and fluid situation. People hesitate, change their mind, run, signal in some way that "you got me, I'm not going to attack you". The defender, having only a gun in his hand, might not want to shoot the fleeing attacker, but also might not want him to sense weakness and change his mind again. Again, who knows? I'd bet that even the OP's brother doesn't know for certain.

Skans- You are right. I did not mean it in such a manner. I just meant, Sometimes we all know- A warning shot could prevent death. To many if's and but's to really decide the out come. It's a tough question to answer, unless you are really there. I know if I was a BG I would head for the hills if someone pulled a gun on me. I would not even need a warning shot:D. I like living...... Any time you can exit a confrontation with no one getting hurt is a plus in the book
