My 21st Birthday Draws Near...

Another plug for the P99, shot one yesterday afternoon at the local range and I'm sold. Great feel, looks awesome, dead on accurate! Can't wait to get one I can call my own :)

When I turned 21, one of the first things I did after my college classes were over was purchase a Hi-Power. This was before NICS, and after the brady law, so I had to wait 5 days. It was a LONG 5 days. It looks like you've thought it out well, and if you go with the Beretta, I have no doubt that you will be happy. I'd still like to get my plug in for the Browning HP. If you're comfortable carrying "cocked and locked", it gives a nice, consistent trigger pull. My BHP is wickedly accurate without having any work done. Hi-cap mags are available from several sources. It's got the classic lines, and I believe a little more character than a 92F. But make your choice and shoot 'till your heart's content. For a first gun, I'd definitely lean towards a 9mm. As a college student, I appreciated the fact that I could get more bang for my buck with a 9mm. Good luck!

USP USP USP!
My first handgun and I don't see myself ever being happier with a gun purchase. 10 rds of .45 is all you really need anyway and I've got 4 mags for it. You said it fits your hand which is what I first liked about it and it's just as comfortable to shoot. Never really thought of myself as a great shoooter (and some guns prove it) but I can punch the hell out of the center rings at 15 yards with this one.

I bought a USP 40F for my 21st but it didn't arrive (B&B Sales in Westminster) until about Christmas.

I sold it but will probably replace it with a USP 9Compact.

I've decided

I'm getting a Para Ordnance P14-45 Limited. I found a preban mag on sale for a good price and ordered it.

I like the gun, I'm familliar with operation of the 1911, it has ambi safety, it fits my hand...excellent.

Forget the alcohol dude, get a gun. I still haven't bought any alcohol since I turned 21 because I've been putting all my money into guns and things! I turn 23 this Sept.

HK USP9F or USP45F would be my first choice.
2nd would be the SIG P226.
The USP9F and Tactical are the two guns that i shoot the most these days.

I WOULD HAVE WENT FOR THE CZ-75! YOU WOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH CHANGE TO HAVE A JUMP ON THAT .44 MAG YOU WANTED. 2 GUNS ARE BEETER THAN 1. ESPECIALLY 2 EXCELLENT ONES!:D

I'm sure you'll like the Para. You can't go wrong with a .45
FWIW, I didn't even go drinking on my 21st. Bought my gun and went to bed early with visions of X-rings dancing in my head.

I'm turning 21 on June 12th... can't wait but I live in Illinios and have to have a FIOD to get any guns.... So I'm buying lots of alcohol :P luckliy I have a twin to go drinking with me since not many of my friends will be 21 then..

any who If I could go with a gun I want ...I'd probaly go with a M249 SAW with a FN Five-Seven for back-up...but talking seriously I really don't know that much about guns I don't come in contact with, most guuns were rifles, I think I've shot colt python and a different .357 and a beretta.

I need reccomendations.... I'd like to go with a BHP or a H&K I have been looking at the beretta 92fs ? but I see alot of people taking about the 96 whats the difference? Out of those guns which do you like the best?

I'll have to add the gold DE to my colletion as soon as I convince my fiance I'm not a gun toting maniac whos massing a collection of guns for the end of the world when everything is in chaos :) I'd also like to get a M25 or maybe a Steyer scout or something.

OK, welcome to the world of shooting.

Gold DE. Ugly, IMHO. I mean, I think the DE is cool, but the Gold is also expensive.

Beretta 96: same as Beretta 92 but in .40. Holds 11 rounds to a magazine, or 10 with the magazine capacity ban in place.

As for what you should get? Hmm. I'm getting the .45, but I've shot .45s before and I'm familliar with them. The Beretta 9mm is a good gun, and I hear tell it's easy to shoot. It's also hard to go wrong with nearly any .357 revolver, and you could look at selections from Taurus and Ruger for starters. Both are generally very reasonably priced.

All of the guns mentoned are great guns, IMO you have to shoot each one, then decide which one you want the most.
