I'll take those 'ugly' grips if you don't want them!
Also just for safeties sake. That trigger shoe on your gun makes holstering it a dangerous thing since it extends outside the trigger guard and can snag easily. just an FYI so no one gets hurt.
I'll send you a PM if I decide to sell them but judging by the piles of unused stuff I've taken off guns in the past, I wouldn't hold my breath
I appreciate the need to have representative grips for this gun; but these "ugly" ones are REALLY comfortable. I'll be testing them at the range before the week is out...
I have a similar set of grips that came with my Colt Army Special. They are very stable for SA, but the design makes DA shooting difficult for me, and I need DA for the timed and rapid fire stages of Bullseye.
Any idea how much these might be worth? I believe they would also fit an Official Police, Python, etc.
Yeah, maybe you're right. But the prices seem out of the park these days. I already paid a lot more for this little beauty than the book says I should ($850 for one in exec. condition) and mine didn't have original grips.
The pre-29's I see in nice condition are $2000 plus... and I'm afraid to see what the book says... probably circa $900
The idea is to create the illusion of a lighter trigger, by spreading the pressure out over a wider area of the finger. Think of them as a "poor-boys target trigger." The good thing about them is all you have to do to undo them is take the shoe off. You could buy hammer extensions that fit with set screws also.
They were really intended for S/A bullseye type shooting, but a lot of shooters used them back in the day. They started to fall out of favor when holsters started to cover the trigger/guard area if I remember correctly, which was about the time "action" shooting sports started to gain ground.
