Moved to new state (NC) and CCW

Of course he already has the license, but further:
(i) Revocation.--A license to carry firearms may be revoked by the issuing authority for good cause. A license to carry firearms shall be revoked by the issuing authority for any reason stated in subsection (e)(1) which occurs during the term of the permit....
I have not found any indication that you are required to notify the sheriff of your change of residence. If you do notify, then he may have good cause to revoke. That's how I read it in my non-lawyer simple English.
Good point. I overlooked the home state license requirement, and the fact that adamBomb doesn't yet have a license from his new home state.

I think the time and cost of the NC class and license is going to be less money and effort than chasing down conflicting quasi-legal opinions via internet and telephone, which, upon reliance, may get you into hot legal water in NC and strip you of your CCW rights for as long as you live there.

I am working on the NC CCW. I take my class Dec 12 and then it will take about 2-3 months to process after that. I have not been carrying and was more or less just curious what the laws and my status were. I never trusted what any of the sheriffs told me so I just chose the best option was not to carry so I wouldn't have to worry about it. It just stinks the NC license is such a long process.

This goes to show that having a second (or third) license, from say Utah, Florida, or Arizona, could come in handy for situation like the OP.

That's a long process, alright. Always makes me wonder just how my state of Washington can get a background check and issue a license within 30 days without issuing them to drooling, untrained, cowboy hotheads that will run the streets red with blood like the folks who passed your laws thought they needed to avoid.

Getting the WA license was so easy, as it should be.

I had mine in the mail less than two weeks after I visited the sheriffs office. The fee was what I felt was reasonable
