Mousegun stories

Scooter,

Those are indeed the babies, you had them in your locker all along. I also happen to prefer the Winchester variety. While they may not look as "mean" as your 110gr PD rounds, some of which I mistakenly loaded out my mother in laws Rossi with (and which are still chambered as I type), they give you far more firepower, load them with confidence.

As for a .38 Spl. only penetrating 0.5 inches of gut, all I can say is that Rosie and Oprah are safe, but I wouldn't want to try it out myself thanks all the same.

I keep my .40 caliber Glock 27 loaded with Hydra-Shoks. A .40 caliber Hydra-Shok makes a BIG hole in a wet phone book. I'm really confident with the .40's. However, I can't always carry a belt gun everywhere I go, especially in the summer. I keep my "mouse guns" loaded with the most effective ammo I can buy. So, in that vein, what do you think about Glasers? Some people say they're great and some people say that pre-fragmented ammo is trash. It seems to me that a fast round like the Glaser would be just the ticket in a mouse gun.
Opinions???

Thanks,
Will

Mendacity is the system we live in.

A couple shootings I worked or saw come to mind. One was a guy who shot himself with a .22 semi auto. It was a gut wound and he went to the hospital. He did not feel too swift. Another was a gangbanger who took one in the knee, I think a .380. He stood there while I interviewed him about the shooting and while EMS worked on him before he went to the hospital. Real calm, collected. It was a through and through shot. He was very coherent even at the hospital, enough for him to give me his father's number to call. One guy took a .380 through the left hand, he was ranting and raving and would not stand still at all (I think the crack had something to do with this), but he was still functional. It traveled in the upper part of the hand, broke part of it, and exited. I could not talk to him at the hospital since he passed out, so much a nurse stated she cathiterized him and he did not wake up.

Friend was recently shot with a .32. Round passed through a garage door, entered his hand between the first two knuckles, turned when it reached the wrist and stopped in the meat between his thumb & forefinger. Treated and relesed within 3 hours (I've spent longer than that in the emergency room waiting); back on duty 3 days later (his hand was still hurting & swollen 2 weeks later).

Another officer was shot by the same gun - entered in his armpit under the vest. Last I heard, it was too close to heart to remove & it didn't pose a real threat where it was. Docs immobilized the arm, waiting to see if his body pushes it away from his heart enough to go in & get it.

A couple of weeks back:

BG "ambushes" 3 cops in their police car with a .22 semi-auto rifle sawed down, using standard velocity ammo.

Hits the female cop 8 times: face, arm, neck, chest. The other two are hit 3 or 4 times.

Result: They're all out of hospital and expected to make a 100% (physical) recovery. (For which I am very happy!)

In the mid 70's while stationed at Fort Hood, a single MP in my company was renting a place off post with another soldier. The MP was setting on the commode one day and his room mate opened the door to the bathroom and shot him between the eyes with a .22 revolver. Bullet broke the skin but did not penetrate. Gave him two exremely black eyes.
German cop related a couple stories to me about their little .32's that they are required to carry. He and another officer responded to a call about a group of bikers (yes bikers in Germany) who were causing trouble. As they approached two of the bikers one immediately hit the other officer over the head with a heavy chain and put him down. The other officer pulled his .32 and shot the guy multiple times. The biker ran off and was never captured.
Another time a german cop stopped a stolen car. Out of the stolen car comes this really huge man with a hatchet in his hand and advances on the officer. The cop empties his little Walther into the BG and as he is just a step away the guy collapses and dies. The last shot had hit the heart, all other shots were in the chest but did not penetrate deeply enough to hit the lungs. Turns out the BG had just escaped from mental institution for the criminally insane. He was a multiple ax murderer. German cops hated the .32, wanted .38's or 9mm but could not have them.
