Mounting guns

Think about a drunk with a gun. There is a separation between what he wants to do with it versus what he actually does with it.

In a remote control situation, there is also a separation. There are just too many variables in play to be safe. As the plane takes off, manuevers, etc. it is highly likely the muzzle sweeps objects you DO NOT wish to destroy (rule # 1).

Even the best remote control pilots loose control/ have crashes with their models. When they crack one up, it can cost hundreds of dollars. A remote controled model with a fire arm is just an accident waiting to happen, with life threatening consequenses.

also a R/C heli is a VERY delicate piece of machinery...thousand moving parts flying in close formation....

strapping on a 8lb gun and system will not make it happy, not to mention you have to have a BIG helicoptor to even lift that much weight.

$2,000 is on the minimum here if you were actually going to do this.

and whoever said about the muzzle pointing at you brought up a VERY good point.

when you fly nose in (heli facing you) that gun would be pointed right at you and your spectators....(they always seem to show up) NOT good.

not to mention i SERIOUSLY doubt it could handle the recoil of even a .22

if your going to try this do a paintball gun...IMO would be MUCH safer.

or just strap on a vid cam like all the other people who strap stuff to their heli's....

landing would be problematic as well.

Chad who knows a little bit about R/C helicoptors.

Hey there chad.

My design in my head would weigh about 12 ounces and be all contained within the body. Yes, I was budgeting $2500 for it. And also, I was going to put a camera on it as well. (aiming)

BUT-lets face it...pipe dreams.

This wont be happening, and if it does actually manifest it wont be for several years.

Thanks for all the good input guys

If you just want to screw around, mount Estes rockets in a tube laucher. A bit safer, no recoil and very little weight.

Where some people see nothing but problems, others see opportunity.

Build it if/when you can. Please send back a report and photos so that we can applaud your success!

Thanks

Butch

What some people correctly see as dangerous and a potential loss of personal liberty, others see as "really cool".

In the mean time, blowing up mailboxes fits a similar mindset, and is lower budget. ;)
