But isn't the yip-yap invigorating? Hell, let's keep goin'! The amazing thing about Glock's is they've been "hyped" tremendously. If you're trying to reach out to older, wiser, more experienced enthusiasts the "hype" doesn't work all that well. But when you reach out to younger, less experienced, more impressionable minds the "hype" is more profound. Does this sound familier? "This G-22 kicks butt" or "This G-30 is totally awesome". Sounds like a good technical eval to me. It's all in the "hype". Glock's are no better or worse than any other pistol...just louder...

Oy... epure sil muove...

It was a joke, y'all, calm down... :)

Ahh, heck. Watch me get it all stirred up again:

"Glock." ;)

Glock? is that short for a obscure German musical instrument played by tubby guys in short pants? Or is that just hype or speal with the guys in short pants. :) I find it a bit interesting that one of the major shortfalls of the P-08 luger is OK now if plastic is used in the gun. They are probably just fine if you can get used to them and I supect too many people packing them are not compitent with them, ADs and Glocks seem to have a long track record. Probably like giving a glock gunner a Colt in cocked and locked mode.

Yeah, Make bloody sure when you are in a high adrenalin situation you take you finger out of the trigger guard when hostering your Glocks. I know of two LEOs who have shot themselves in the leg by being just a little overexcited and having the holster edge push their finger into the trigger. Spoils your whole day. Never heard of it happening with a cocked and locked 1911.

HI! I vote for the CZ75, it always seems to be in any thread asking for a good pistol as a good(cheap) alternative to anything.

I may be wrong...I am a Rifleman after all...well mostly.

Glocks are the most talked about. The BHP is the most praised. CZ75 takes second in this area. The 1911 has become less and less talked about here over the last 2 years (they are even loosing alot of ground over at shooters.com). The latest fad here is the pocket 32s.

All the 1911 guys have migrated over to 1911forum.com....

I would have to say Glock(although it pains me to say that).

What PKN said. While a lot of 1911 discussion still take place on TFL, most of it is now asked on 1911forum.com.

It's a nice board where you can discuss all aspects of 1911's without running into, "Well, 1911's are nice, Glocks are better! or Sigs are better or my mom will kick your mom's ass!" type of arguments.

Huh. Glock or 1911.

I've been known to bring up Kel-tecs a lot. I have three, and a P-40 upper.

"Glock" the company is named after Gaston Glock. One could also say "Browning- that's a poet, right?...isn't 'Ruger' a sport? Doesn't your mom have 'CZ'? (Poor woman.) Isn't 'Mauser' a kind of dog? Can we say 'FN' on The Firing Line? Have you seen the latest InterArms flick? Ooh, mama! Aren't 'Berettas' worn in hair?"...etc,etc.

Incidentally, if one can safely handle a Glock, one can safely handle a 1911 (though they may forget to take the safety off under stress). Negligent discharges involve fingers or other objects going into trigger guards.

Humans are imperfect creatures. AD's happen all the time. Not, of course, to any of us on TFL! KEEP THAT DAMN GLOCK HOLSTERED! :)

I'll agree that Glocks get yapped about the most. But it would be real interesting if you could break it down to what percentage is pro-glock and how much is anti-glock.
My guess is about 50/50.

Roadkill on the information superhighway.

I am surprised that no one else thought of it. I had some time to kill last night and I searched and searched and did the math.
And the winner is: GLOCK!!

But the figures also show that GLOCK was mentioned UNFAVORABLY 41% of the time while the 1911's unfavorable mentions were only 11%.

There you have it. The Glock is disliked more than the 1911 by a ratio of nearly four to one.

FIGURES DONT LIE!
(If you don't believe this, you are welcome to check it yourself.)

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,
