Most Acurate 9mm Semi

I would like a new target pistol. This is for informal days in the backyard popping targets. This isn't intended for CC, I have others to fit that requirement. The thing is I reluctantly traded my old HiPower for a great deal. 5 pistols later and none have lived up to it's acurassy. The current is a pt99 taurus. The trigger has to long of a stroke, has to much slop and is to heavy. I would like suggestions on pistols that do not have these traits or have readilly available aftermarket spring kits, such as Wolf springs.
For comparison the taurus is putting 13 in 6" at fifty yards. The old hipower would measure in at 3-3.5" with 13 shots. Granted the hipower was one of the sa only models which gave it a sweet trigger.
Please no flaming on other people for thier selection, I want as many as possible.
Thanks gentlemen

The Sig P210 is probably one of the most accurate 9mm ever made, but they are very expensive. The CZ 75 is usually very accurate, trigger quality is variable, but there are several spring kits. Please remember that only exceptional combinations of handgun and ammo in service-grade pistols (9mm or any other caliber) are capable of 3" groups for 13 shots at 50 yards.

If you can afford the bucks, an H&K P7 series. Unbelievably accurate.

If not, a Hi Power (triggers tend to bite, though), or a Sig.

You guys seemed to have forgotten the the Walther P88 and Walther P5 with their groove and guided barrels. Precise return of the barrel to the exact position after each cycle.

Proven tack drivers.

As a friend of mine likes to say, "Every man needs a HiPower". Alas, they have indeed jumped in price the last few years and I'm afraid that the days of the $350 HiPower are behind us.

However, as CMOS has noted, the Walther P5 and P88 series have exceptional accuracy. The P5 can be had for $479 from Bachman Pawn and Gun (www.bachmangun.com) which is a real deal for a gun that retailed for $800. The P5 production line has been halted and overhauled for the P99 series, so this may be your last chance to pick one up at closeout prices.

The P88 can be found for $900-$1,000 on Gunsamerica (www.gunsamerica.com) most any day - a look this morning revealed no less than six for sale, some NIB with hi-caps.

And speaking of P99s - it's the most accurate 9mm I own, even edging out the P88 *in my hands*. YMMV, of course. I see these in the $575 range NIB all the time.

If all that is too rich for your blood, don't overlook the fine CZ-75 series, now retailing for about $375. A good 'smith can tune the trigger to match quality, and they are well made of all-steel construction. Hi-caps available directly from the factory for $45, too.

The Sig P210 has been raded as one of the most accurate 9mms of all time but is somewhat big and bulky. As well as hard to find and very costrly.

The H&K P7 on the other hand is very small, concealable and accurate. But it too is hard to find and expensive.

Both of these weapons will hit at 100 yards. Not with me shooting of course but in the hands of a capable marksman. ;)

Just shooting in the backyard? No way you can beat the good ole' CZ75B. Tight groups in the heart of the X-Ring at a fraction of the cost of the Sig 210. "Less expensive" doesn't necessarily mean 'cheap' in this instance. "Less expensive" means great center-target value for the money when you're talking about a CZ75. $350 new in the box with a couple of 15 round hicaps in Indiana...

Take the long way home...

HK USP9 has been very accurate in my limited experience. Perhaps mild recoil had something to do with it (i.e. accurate *for me*).

Thanks gentlemen, I'm proud of you, nobody got into a debate, everyone just stated thier favorite. I assume my pt99 would bring $300-$325 at the shop, so they could turn it over for $350-$375. I've already infuriated the wife for the year with several other purchases, I could get by with a total of $500 with trade in. After all she doesn't know the price of firearms and I intend to keep it that way. She only notices when I buy another gun safe. I'm safe in the respect a black gun looks the same to her no matter if it's a shotgun, bolt rifle or military rifle. The key is to never open all the safes at once or have many guns out at one time for cleaning.
Again thanks gentlemen, keep em' coming.

1. SIG P210
2. Custom Colt 1911 (under 2" at 50 yards, but it is not an off the shelf gun)
3. Steyr GB and H&K P7 (both have the barrels screwed into the frame and use a gas locking system)
4. H&K P9S Target or Competition (roller locking system and the best factory trigger ever produced)
5. Browning HP GP-Comp
