Most accurate .270 projectile

My .270 did not like boat-tails or heavy bullets.

I sure miss 300-600 yard prairie dogs. I don't think I ever hit any at 600 but it was sure fun. you could pop over to the spotting scope before the bullet hit. Ohio has you stuck at 100 yards, maybe 200. I'm loading for kids so I'm conducting the following experiment. Factory 130 grn Winchester Super X up against:

44/46/48 grns (trickled-48 on the Hodgdon page) of Varget on 130 grain Sierra/Nosler Trophy/Speer Grand Slam. --- Cus, you know…. Snow.

I’m looking for a best group and tightest 3 groups, if it is ½” spread between loads at 100 yards, I will not have to trickle that load and just press on the progressive. Right now it throws worst case +/- .3, most usually +/- .1. I'll get my nephew gunned up for a trip out west this summer with a few 100 rounds of whatever works, zeroed at the furthest possible. Plenty far for PDs.

I'm surprised at all the heavy bullets here. They did not fly well for me. I have some 140s & 150s but there is no 150 data for Varget.

Sierras do well in most of the .270s in my family.

But if you want the best that we've seen...

Just find something that says Nosler.
I prefer Partitions (140s).
Most of the rest of my family prefers Ballistic Tips or Accubonds (130s or 140s, with the odd 160 gr Partition thrown in).

A young man told me that my 270 cartridge is obsolete.
I felt like John Cleese when I said, "No it isn't!"

As you can see there are several "most accurate" bullets out there. You will have to find the most accurate for your rifle though tests of your own. For me I have a Stainless Stalker that likes Hornady 140 BTSP's best and a Savage 110 that likes Serria 140 SPBT's best. Each holds a 1/2 MOA 5 shot group out to 300yrds with a powder bullet combo worked up for them.
