Most accurate 22lr pocket gun???

I was thinking about getting a 22 for the pocket when I walk the dog in the wood and such....But I'd like to get one that will come close to hitting what I aim at. What is your choice for a pocket sized 22 that is reliably accurate(if that is possible). Keep in mind we're not talking about 25 yards either..10 yards maybe.
And just to make it alittle tougher...the least expensize too.
HHmmmm...Beretta...Taurus...Phoenix...maybe a small wheel gun. What do you guys carry to shoot sticks in the woods???

Except for cost of ammo, the Kel-Tec is a much better choice than any small .22. I have several .22 revolvers and like them very much, but misfires are fairly common, almost unheard of with centerfire ammo. IMO the great value of .22 in a handgun is for very cheap target practice and plinking. I suppose some people may hunt with .22 pistols. I fired three .22 revolvers today at the range.

The KT is lighter, cheaper, smaller, more potent, and uses more reliable ammo.

If you have to have a small .22, try the Taurus 94 ultra-lite with two inch barrel. It weights about 17 oz. and holds 9 rounds.

I dont think you're going to find anything with much accuracy in this crowd if you go semi-auto; you might want to look into the North Amercian Arms Mini-Master or BlackWidow revolvers

Smith has a 22 snubby revolver made of some sort of alloy that's super light and holds, I think 10 rounds. Never shot one.

I had a Berreta pop-up barrel 22 (Bobcat?) that was completely reliable with stingers - fun little pocket gun - not nail driver but I could hit a pumpkin at 10 feet.

Walther THP is another option I'd check out.

Phoenix Arms HP-22

RH Factor: I have a Phoenix Arms HP-22 w/ 3" and 5" barrels, the accuracy is far better with the 5" than the 3".

The 3" barrel gets consistently shots groups of:

3yds: 2" groups
7yds: 4" groups
15yds: 10"+ groups
25yds: You'll be lucky to get a few to hit the target.

It definitely isn't the most accurate of pistols, but it'll do in a pinch. I used mine to qualify in the CCW course I took (cause my main carry firearm was being serviced).

I wouldn't carry the HP-22 though for a number of reasons:
1. Too Heavy (20oz. unloaded), a Loaded Kel-Tec P-11 weighs the same when it is fully loaded.
2. Reliability of the Rimfire ammunition
3. Potency of the .22LR
4. The HP-22 is single action, I would feel very uncomfortable carrying it Cocked and Locked. I've had it discharge even when the safety is on.

When my CCW finally arrives, I'm going for a P-11, it is only slightly larger, weighs the same, more potent, definitely more reliable and has a lot more self-defense loads available. I may even give the new Kahr a glance when it comes out in May.

I hope that helps and answers you question. You can't go wrong with the P-32 as the other gents are suggesting. It is much lighter and a little more potent than a similiar sized Pocket .22.

Check out the Bersa 22. Looks good, carries 10 +1 22lr and very inexpensive.

"A 22 in hand is better than a 45 at home" scenario. eh? ;)

KY Imports has a FEG Mark II in .22LR that is very accurate, especially within 30 feet. It looks like a PPK, and can be found in most of their ads in SGN.

I have the FEG smc-22 which is very accurate with remington golden bullets. It sounds like the one above as it is a little smaller than my makarov.

An S&W model 317 is the only .22 pocket gun that would actually offer you accuracy in any useful capacity. It is available in a 3" barrel with adjustable sights. It weighs about 10 ounces. Check out the specs on the S&W website. www.smith-wesson.com

Phoenix Arms HP-22 w/ 3" and 5" barrels

I also have the Phoenix Arms 22 and with the 5" barrel it is
very accurate for a 22 pocket pistol, also mine has been extremly reliable.

Pocket gun and accurate

are generally considered to be an oxymoron, but when you stipulate the '10 yards or less', it's a pretty reasonable proposition. The real issue is, what do you consider 'pocket' sized?

Lots of good suggestions. Most of the revolvers are bigger than the HP-22, FEG's, Beretta, in one dimension or another, maybe all in the case of the Beretta.

The M21 Beretta is usually considered a belly gun, but inside 10 yards it hits where you point it just fine. Sights leave a bit to be desired. It isn't too expensive, and it is a true pocket gun.

I only own two .22lr pistols these days, one of which is the M21, but I wouldn't take it along. I'd rather take the Walther P22. I'm not saying it's my recommendation for you though. It's on the wrong end of the size continuum for a true pocket gun, but it is fairly light, way more accurate than required (even with the 3.4" barrel), and not outrageously expensive ($230-$270).

I once owned a High Standard revo in .22 mag. Not too bad. 9 shots, but it was as big as some small .38's. I guess it's the size that is the real hangup in what you seek. I've never shot a KelTec 32, but it is definitely a pocket size gun, even with the extended mag. Very light. (I looked at/held an aquaintance's). I think it would have some recoil, but practice cures that. Again, fairly rudimentary sights, but most pocket guns suffer in this regard, due to the fact that better sights don't help you pulling one out of your pocket fast.

I'd spend some time at the store, looking at some of the suggestions. Like I said, your reasonability regarding accurate range puts a number of guns on your table, so to speak.

Walther P-22

I have a Walther P-22 that I carry sometimes. it is relativly small and light and seems to be pretty accurate.
I think i would trust a .22 about as much as a .32 for stopping ability, so shot placement is the decideing factor. The P-22 seems adequate in is area.:D

Bobcat

I got my Model 21 may years ago and it functions perfectly and is accurate even for double taps at that range. $169 IIRC. I didn't expect much of it but was amazed. One thing I have noticed is after 100 rounds or so you need to clean the barrel and chamber to keep it functioning well. Lead builts up otherwise and causes problems.

Mags are 15 to 20 bucks.

Don't know about all the models listed by others but expect to shoot a box or two of ammo before the reliability issue comes into focus with a Model 21. High velocity works best. Mine has a great trigger.

I've got a Pheonix HP22 and with the 3 inch barrel I can chase pop cans out to about 25 yrds without too much trouble. With the 5 inch barrel I can chase a golf ball out to about 15 yrds, past that and those lousy sights take their toll. If Pheonix would put some better sights on that puppy they'd have a real winner. The only other problem I have with mine is that it doesn't like stingers, I guess their a bit spicy for its taste.

Another vote for the S&W 317. I have one w/ the 3" barrell (pre ban) and it is both light and accurate. They also make (or made) one with a 1 7/8" barrell and shorter grips.

The Beretta is great.

The old Beretta (Minx, I thinx) was for .22 short only and was a real tack driver. My buddy and I used old shell boxes for targets and hit em all the time.

Also EXCELLENT is the Walther PPK, PPK/S, and PP in .22 LR.

In fact, I have an old manual on target shooting that covers the .22 target pistols of the '40's and '50's and devotes one chapter to what the author considered the ONLY pocket gun to compete with a target pistol....The PP.

I have a West German PPK that will hit anything I can see. Great guns.
