Mossberg wooden stocks?

Well, got the wood stock set from Havlin's on 'er. Noticeable difference, as the slugs aren't knockin' my teeth loose anymore & now she looks right. Gotta say, that stock recoil pad isn't a whole lot softer than the wood. Deffo gotta order up a Limbsaver.

Anywho, big thanks to Rantingredneck for helping me out with the stock swap & showing me the inner workings of Mossbergs. Great afternoon at the range, too. Hope that 1911 don't haunt you too bad

Nah, man. I wouldn't do that. Maybe just one 1911 & a week on the couch ;)

Besides, you started it by dragging out the Ruger collection :D

That Dan Wesson CBOB would be worth a night on the couch. :D.

I'm probably going to be making a recoil pad switch soon on the wood stocked 500 you saw today. From what I've found it's going to be a grind to fit project and if you want we can order two, split the shipping and use my belt grinder to get them sorted out. I've done a couple of grind to fits on other guns. Not difficult at all with the right tools.

Hey Carl which forend did it end up being 6 3/4 or 7 3/4? I have the same gun and thought wood would make it not look like an evil black rifle to my wife. :)

Crazy Carl,

Congrats on your new stock, You Right the Factory Recoil Pad is pretty hard.
You could easily remove it and install a new Packmyer and it would really help.
I dont know what it is about short guns, but they do recoil harder.
Good luck Man.

SRRMIKE- It's the longer one. I guess the "tactical" models & the 835s are the only ones still using the longer forends.

TX Hunter- Just got a "grind to fit" LimbSaver in & gonna lop 1/2" to 1" off the stock before installing it. Fits decently now, but fondled a bunch of my long guns back to back & prefer the shorter LOP of my SKS, so taking 'er down to 13" LOP or so.
