Mossberg Rifles

Mossberg 4x4 (30-06)

Lots of negativity out there in other Forums and websites regarding the Mossberg 4x4 but it seems that in a lot of gun forums that's mostly what you hear....lots of negativity. The satisfied among us stay quiet and enjoy their jewels. I'll let the cat out the bag. I have a Mossberg 4x4 (30-06) laminate, bought new in 2012. I mounted a Zeiss 3-12x50 illuminated scope. I have half dollar groupings at 200 mtrs. I enjoy the rifle immensely. No issues to date. I hunt wild boar, various deer types and mountain goat types in Germany and the Czech Rep with it. Do I know rifles, maybe... you be the judge. I also own and hunt with a Weatherby Vanguard (30-06), Tika T3 (308), Remington 700 (270Win), Blaser R93 Take Down (308) and a M1 Carbine. So when I say I enjoy hunting with my Mossberg, I enjoy hunting with my Mossberg. Haters/sceptics out there or wanna be buyers who were scared off, re-consider and find a range rental and find out for yourselves... As we say in Germany...Waidmannsheil (Good hunting). ;)

Sometimes see a gent with a Mossberg rifle at range I'm a member. Their owners are satisfied with their Mossbergs.

Shortly before the beginning of last years deer season, one of the gents I frequently shoot with at range, showed up with a Mossberg ATR 7mm08. Rifle had been bought by his son and Dad was to sight in the scope, break-in the rifle and find an accurate hunting reload for it. Dad owns some nice rifles. Think his last three bought were ordered from the custom shops of Savage and Remington. LOL, he'd probably never even think about buying a centerfire Mossberg rifle.

Anyway, after several Sundays at range with the Mossberg and maybe 60 or so rounds fired at targets, I'll ask him his opinion on his son's rifle. My buddy was favorably impressed with it. Said something to the effect, "for a cheap rifle, it has a decent trigger, nice feel to the bolt, and while its not a match rifle, it shoots pretty accurate and might get one for myself."

I've got an ATR in .243. It's more accurate than I am, especially since I replaced the crappy no-name scope that it came with.
