More Calif. stupidity!!!

Here's one to reinforce the stupidity of our current government in California. I stopped by the local gun store today to get pricing on a new Wilson CQB-compact. Shop owner called Wilson and was told, "....can't ship a new gun in grey/black - has to be OD green/black since that was the color that got drop tested and approved for sale in California...." What a bunch of BS!! I e-mailed Wilson directly and will post their response. I also e-mailed the Calif. DOJ, but I do not expect a logical or sound explanation for this issue.

I guess if I have to...OD green/black it will be, but not without a fight!!

Another slave upset by the color of his chains?

Think you are missing a larger point, but am not really sure that matters over there now.

I wonder if that means that no stainless models will be importable if they tested only the blued or parked versions?

Gun drop tests

Keep laughing and pointing fingers at us Californians, proles...

But remember, what starts here moves inland...and there are virulent gunbanners in EVERY state.

Remember also that conservative gunowners are highly outnumbered here and that's why we're having all this trouble.

Then don't let them do this to your state. And don't laugh too loud, or they'll hear you and start trying to do it where you live.

I hope they don't succeed, because as soon as I retire, I'm moving out of here. Meanwhile, I'll hang in there and help out the fight where I can.

Is the gun a different finish or a different material? DOJ allows different finishes, but if one is blued steel and the other is stainless, both would have to be tested.

I have heard about a person on the 1911forum board that managed to get an all black CQB from Wilson by first receving the gun, in OD green/black, in California and going through the DOJ paper work/wait, then sending it back to Wilson and having it refinished. It wasn't possible to recive the gun in an all black form because it wasn't covered by the guns subbmitted by Wilson but it was possible to have it refinished after the transfer from dealer to consumer was made and California ownership had taken place. You might want to contact http://www.pt-partners.com/ because I think they where the ones that did the deal for that guy. They might be able to tell you if it's possible to take possesion of a OD green/black CQB compact and then return it back to wison to have it refinished in grey/black. It's a real pain but if you really want it in grey/black this may be the only way...other than moving out of the state. Good luck...I wish I had the cash for a new CQB :D

An approved gun can be of different finish, but not of different material. Here is the text of the law.

12131.5. (a) A firearm shall be deemed to satisfy the
requirements of subdivision (a) of Section 12131 if another firearm
made by the same manufacturer is already listed and the unlisted
firearm differs from the listed firearm only in one or more of the
following features:
(1) Finish, including, but not limited to, bluing, chrome-plating,
oiling, or engraving.

(2) The material from which the grips are made.
(3) The shape or texture of the grips, so long as the difference
in grip shape or texture does not in any way alter the dimensions,
material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel,
the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm.
(4) Any other purely cosmetic feature that does not in any way alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm.

Well, let me give you this scenario: A friend of mine who is a permanent resident alien tried to purchase a pistol this weekend at a gunshow in Dallas. She made the payment, filled out the paperwork and when the dealer saw that she stated no on the question if she is a US citizen, the sale was cancelled because she has to provide proof of her residency within the past 90 days such as utility bills, lease agreement, etc. According to the dealer, the ATF came out with this new rule about two weeks ago. My poor friend was so disappointed first of all because she lives about 200 miles away and she is getting a very good deal on the pistol.
:barf:

I have some experience in this area. I wanted a CZ 75 in Nickel. However, CZ only had the blue ones tested. I read the law and then called the CA DOJ. They actually called back and were very helpful.

If the gun has a different finish than the one tested, the manufaturer needs to send one to the State. If the State deems that it differs from the tested gun only in finish or other purely cosmetic ways, they will require the manufacturer to pay a $200 fee to list the gun on the "approved list".

I called CZ and they said they would do that with the Nickel finish. That was 5 months ago and it is still not listed. If the CA DOJ thinks the differences are more than cosmetic, they have to do all the drop test stuff which is expensive.

This is a sneaky way to ban guns in California. You can't even buy a Hi Power here as it now stands. What Gumshoe4 said is true. Most of the anti gun garbage starts here in Kalifornia because too many fools in LA and SF vote for Commies (DemoCRATS).

Watch for this coming to your state soon.

As promised....here is my correspondance with Wilson:

your gun dealer is correct we cannot change a single thing not even the
color.

Come-on.. Our state is also free. It is free to all those who collect welfare, but prefer the better weather.

More Calif. stupidity !!!

Have you ever noticed that the people who complain the loudest when the rights are raped are the people who do not vote or belong to the NRA.
If you belonged to the NRA you would receive a list of the politians who are out to enslave you. You may be surprised to learn that there are some Republicans from communist states like NY that are anti-gun and there are conservative democrates from the south that are fighting to save your rights.
It is frightening to suddenly realize that California is facing the same problems the communists in Russia faced with their 5 year plans. Of course this is not mentioned in the left wing news media.
History has already proven we will not wake up in time before we will lose all of our rights and the news media is cheering on the Despots all the way. W.R.

In response to Wild Romanian....

I take exception to your posted reply. I AM a member of the NRA, and make significant contibutions to their legislative action group (NRA-ILA). I also know who my local politicans are and write them regularly about various pending bills as well as the existing laws. All of this is in an attempt to get a change in the local system.

I am lucky enough to live in rural Northern California (and that means several hours north of San Francisco), where the local sheriff is pro-gun and pro citizen carry. I do however get the backlash from the liberals in LA, SF, SD, and Sacramento - part of the downside of living in such a nice area.

Anyway - be careful about labeling someone as a whiner or complainer that does nothing until they are impacted before you have the facts;)

Wild,

There are are only one or two current State level Republicans here in Kalifornia that vote with the gun grabbers. If you look at the recent votes, they are almost all party line. DemocRATS voting against freedom.

There are a few Democrats in the Central Valley and some of the more rural northern districts that have voted against further restrictions. However, if a vote was really close I don't know what they would do.

DemocRATS have large majorities in both the Assembly and the
State Senate so they can do pretty much what they want.

A great site to keep up to date on California legislation is www.calnra.org

I belong to NRA and I vote. I don't understand gun owners who don't. They cannot possibly care about the cause. It boggles my mind why so many so called "Sprotsmen" and "Hunters" in Pennsylvania, Wisconson and Minnesota voted for the gun grabber Al Gore?

Russ

A lot of hunters do not vote for Pro-gun people. The best way to convince them that it does apply to them is to talk about "sniper rifles". Usually they don't see a need for "assault rifles". Well, there have been attempts to restrict "sniper rifles". They'll say, "that doesn't apply to me." Then you ask them, can you hit a deer with your deer rifle at 300 yards? They'll say, "yeah, I can shoot a group at 100 yards that you can cover with a dime." Well that's a sniper rifle. There's no need for a rifle that accurate, that's designed for killing. Get's them everytime.
