February 22, 2007 Illegal Aliens Claim They Are Not Criminals

Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. The group says that number is more than 15 percent of all the murders reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. and about three times the representation of illegal aliens in the general population.

Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (the former INS), is a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and an advisor to Family Security Matters (FSM). He says the high number of Americans being killed by illegal aliens is just part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration.

"The military actually called for the BORTAC team, ... the elite unit of the Border Patrol, to be detailed to Iraq to help to secure the Iraqi border," Cutler notes. "Now, if our military can understand that Iraq's security depends in measure on the ability to protect its border against insurgents and terrorists, then why isn't our country similarly protecting our own borders?" he asks.

"We are not five and a half years, nearly, after 9/11, and yet our borders remain open," the Center for Immigration Studies fellow observes. "We have National Guardsmen assigned on the border, but it turns out they are unarmed," he points out. "Their rules of engagement are very simple: if armed intruders head your way, run in the other direction."

This situation would "almost be comical if it wasn't so tragic," Cutler asserts. "If our borders are wide open, this means that drugs, criminals, and terrorists are entering our country just as easily as the dishwashers," he says.

The report from FSM estimates that the 267,000 illegal aliens currently incarcerated in the nation are responsible for nearly 1,300,000 crimes, ranging from drug arrests to rape and murder. Such statistics, Cutler contends, debunk the claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime. "Then we even have another problem," he adds, "and that's the Visa Waiver Program."

The federal government's Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. According to the U.S. State Department website, the waiver program was established in 1986 with the objective of "eliminating unnecessary barriers to travel," stimulating America's tourism industry, and allowing the government to focus consular resources in other areas.

Cutler says the U.S. retains the Visa Waiver Program because the nation's travel, tourism, and hospitality industries want America's borders wide open. In other words, the former INS official contends, the nation's security is being compromised in the name of trade.

Moreover, the far left uses the Iraq death toll as a political tool, yet makes every excuse in the world to ignore that illegals are crowding our prisons and is a huge chunk of violent crime involvement here.
Then, you have the Republicans that have, up until recently, had the power to boot them out. They only half-(insert one who embarrasses himself here) addressed the problem at best.

Our country is the only one where the military thinks that protecting the borders is not its job.
It is not up to the military to make the decision(s) to guard our borders. That is a civilian decision.

Ok, valid distinction, change it to:

Our country is the only one where it's not the job of the military to protect its borders.

Our country is the only one where it's not the job of the military to protect its borders.
I've been giving it some thought and I'm not at all sure that is a correct statement. I don't recall Canada guarding its border with the US with soldiers. I don't believe it is currently true in most of Europe. Hmmm, does anyone have any definitive knowledge on this subject?

I agree it is not the fault of our military, but it is amazing...no make that revolting that we use heavy armed force to protect the Iraq border, but we will not allow guard troops to arm themselves to protect our own borders. Partly my fault....I voted for Give The Country Away Bush!

I spent most of my working life (40 plus years) traveling to Europe, Mexico, and some to Japan. Europe including to Poland even before communism fell. Depending on the need, all European counties I visited have used or will use military to guard borders or key transportation centers. Now of course, in the new open Europe you don't have a train or bus normally stop when you cross an international border. But Europe has demonstrated many times it is willing to use military to protect borders when necessary. Even in peaceful France I have stayed close to the Prime Ministers Headquarters. When you get close you are stopped by armed military...not police.

But really this does not even matter for me. It is what we do here to protect our borders...not what others do that is important to me. We cannot allow criminals or terrorists to enter our country based on what we think Canada does.

And IMO it is not worth debating whether or not the President has the authority to protect our borders with military. This has been beat to death on many debate sites. The old bill that discourages use of military as police in cities does not in any way stop the President from using any US forces he deems necessary to protect our borders. In fact, he is the only person that can do this without debate or votes. Now why he doesn't protect our borders?....well that is another debate. I have my ideas but they are not very nice.

Illegals commiting crimes? NO WAY!

a houston cop was shot and killed a couple months ago by a dirtbag illegal who had already been deported once. Must have been an isolated case though right because as we all know.... "they are only here to do jobs Americans wont do".

Anyone who supports these peoples "rights" to be here has blood on thier hands.

Many of the "military" that you see guarding European borders were para-military police. The Germans used them, the French use them, even the Belgians.

The Posse Commitatus Act makes it illegal to use the military in an LEO role inside CONUS. The United States has always recognized that Border Security, outside of declared wars, was a Law Enforcement function.

The Posse Commitatus Act makes it illegal to use the military in an LEO role

Simply not correct. This has been debated to death. Not even the most liberal Dem's say that the Posse Commitatus Act prevents use of military to protect our borders. It only discourages use of military within cities, the caveat is that it states within the act that the President of The United States has complete power to use military to protect the USA when he deems the danger to national security high. It leaves this definition of when the danger is high to the President.....no votes by congress or anything else. This is way you don't really hear about any liberal Representatives or Senators trying to stop the President using the Posse Commitatus Act....moot point, been tried and failed! The Presidents power as Commander in Chief supersedes.

Time is better spent understanding why our President does not choose to protect our borders.

When the Act was passed, it didn't specify that the military could be used in the suburbs, or in rural areas. The military can be used as you suggest during times of declared war, or in answer to overwhelming force being applied on our borders, al la invasion. As usual, the need to do something NOW overwhelms the laws.

Non-federalized National Guard troops may be deployed by the governor of the state for any purpose he deems legal. They may be armed, and respond to threats with lethal force.

That is the current legal opinion. That is also the overwhelming opinion for the past 200+ years. If the military can be used in the LEO role in CONUS, don't you think that it would be much larger, and more used, otherwise? After all, the border has been an issue since the end of WWII. That's a lot of representatives, Presidents, and AGs.

Interesting replie to thread, But.......

We don't wish to have killings by illegal invaders from Mexico or anywhere else. And we don't wish to read every day that so many US Soldiers and/or Marines were killed in Iraq by terrorists.

What we would like to read is that US Soldiers and Marines killed as many terrorists in Iraq as there are Illegal Mexicans in the US, every day preferably.

BwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaHAHAHAHAHAHAH

This guy quoted in the article is an Expert on Immigration:eek:

Yeah right:

Look what he says about Visa Waivers:

Yep, the Visa Waiver Program doesn't look like a security threat.

Zacarias Moussaoui - French citizen - convicted of conspiring in the 9/11 attacks.

Richard Reid - British citizen - American Airlines "shoe bomber."

Lets look at all of the other murders that are commited by legal citizens. Why don't we deport them or execute them? Look at inner city crime for example.

Many immigrants are hard workers whose main objective is to support their families back home. Their main objective is to fly under radar so they can continue to stay here and support their families back home. While I am NOT advocating illegal immigration, I just find it unfair and misleading to say even a small minority of illegal immigrants are violent criminals. I also know that there is a gang problem, especially MS-13, but many of their members are legal residents who are recruited. Maybe we should just export all imigrants and shut our borders. That would make a lot of sense!

Like it or not, illegal immigrants make up a vital part of our labor pool. These are jobs that legal workers often reject such as farm work, construction, restaurants, and domestic helpers. If it were possible to round up all of the illegal imigrants, estimated at about 12 million people, many businesses would close. Prices of American grown produce would sky rocket and inflation would set in as a result of massive wage hikes to induce legal workers to fill those "less desirable jobs".
