Montgomery County, PA

As a sixty ( or so) day follow-up:

Target World is indeed clean, with enough ventilation for firing cast bullets. the people working there are helpful, and friendly. I've taken a one year membership there, which should pay off in benefits after about three months. Another store I like is French Creek Outfitters just south of Pottstown. No range, but good selection of accessories and reloading supplies. It's on the way to French Creek from where I live.

The CCW process in Montgomery County is simple, although I made an extra trip because you have to provide your own photos.

Particularly for someone coming here from illinois, everything is great.

Thanks again to all who replied.

Bob,
My bride and I shoot at Target World just about weekly. We are in Trooper (next to Collegeville more or less). There is another nice range near the PA DE border called Target Master on the North bound side of 202. I bought my first GLock (trade-in 19) there for a good price with two hi-caps. It is too far to go (especially down 202) during the week so we go to Target World.
Welcome to the neighborhood.

Bob,I am from Bucks County Pa..I lived there for 28 years and now have lived in Baton Rouge,La. for the last 3 years. For your permit you'll have to go to the Montgomery Co. courthouse to get your application. If I remember right I think the sheriffs office at the courthouse is where you need to go.Check out Target World on 611 and Countyline Road they have a good selection of products and a decent range. Also if you go down to the New Britian Inn have some crablegs and a Yeunling Lager for me.Tell Mike that Patrick sent you,he'll hook you up.Great place to live my daughter, father and the ex still are there.Miss it alot.If you need any more info on that area feel free to e-mail me: HYDRASHOKz69@netscape.net------Goodluck. SHOKz

I will echo 9mm Mike's recommendation -- if you want a good deal on a Glock, try Targetmaster (http://www.targetmaster.com) on 202 just north of the Delaware border. Police trade-in Glocks (mostly 19s and 23s) refurbished by the factory, with two factory (new) pre-ban high capacity magazines for $400, $460 if you want night sights. Both my G19 and G23 were purchased there.

They also have a new HK UMP full-auto for rent. No joke!

Better buy em fast, I heard Targetmaster will NOT drop S&W from their product offerings so if they agree to the HUD settlement terms, you may be required to comply with all those stupid terms.

I live in Worcester Twp. myself, and I shoot at Lower Providence Rod & Gun and Twin S in Quakertown. Welcome to the area.

Funny. I'm planning on joining the Lower Providence Gun club. What are you opinions of the place? Anything that I should know about?

A group shoot sounds good to me.

I am a member of the Atglen Sportmen's Club in Parksburg, PA so if any of you all want to join, drop me a line and I'll take you there as a guest. Try before you buy, I always say.

One member made a nice web site for the club at http://www.geocities.com/haugh58/ATGLENSPORTS.html

Figuring the pickings are pretty slim, the LPR&G is a pretty good choice. It's one of the few private clubs near me with an indoor and an outdoor range. Come any first Tuesday in the month at 7:00 to a meeting and see for yourself. Dues are $75/yr, also pretty reasonable for the area.
