Modifications to a rifle I don't shoot?

I put a B&C Medalist on my Remington 700 that also had a flimsy stock.

The B&C is much stiffer and aluminum pillared. Now the barrel is free floating. It improved the groups sizes by about 0.1 to 0.15 inches. That combined with a Timney trigger turned a 0.7 inch rifle into a sub 0.5 inch rifle.

How about a Boyds laminated stock? They have a pretty nice selection, as far as the caliber (7Mag) you could back off a little and be in 270/280 territory or with other powders back off allot.

A Boyd's laminate or walnut stock would certainly be economical. I already have a few Boyds stocks and I think they are very nice for the money. I still would need to buy a one-piece bottom metal to put it into a Boyds stock. That costs as much as a Boyds stock does.
