Modern American Classic????

Very nice rifle, very nice indeed. But I am not sure I would call it an American Classic. The Mannlicher is an old world style, or at least I thought so.

This would be the American Classic stock on a 243.

The #1's are good guns, but as far as looks go, I prefer my 1885 Highwall octagon barrel.

I've got a soft spot for the Ruger Internationals and anything stocked in Mannlicher fashion, so......very nice. I like the Ruger N01's with the standard forearm and the 77 family with the full stock, but yours is indeed a very nice rifle, and I'm fan of .243's as well. How does it shoot? What does it shoot?

I'd have a fixed 6x on it, but that's me. And as far as scopes go, just me, that is a ton of scope on jim243's rifle, tac/varmint turrets, illumination and adj. objective, set in super high rings to boot. Not me. On a sporter anyhow.

Anything made when Bill Ruger was still at the helm does suit me. I think the tang safey M77 stock was a classic. Me again.

How does it shoot? What does it shoot?

Very pleasant to shoot.

First time out I was hot and sweaty and did not have a good rest, but at 3X I was putting three shots in a one inch circle at 50 yards with low price Winchester 100 gr. factory ammo.

I hope to take it out soon on a more pleasant day with a choice of ammo.

I too have an affinity toward full stocked rifles. I have three Ruger M77 RSI rifles, all in .308 Win. Don't ask. It just worked out that way. Got inot all three because their original owners could not get decent groups from them. I won't go ito all the details but it took me a hair over two years to get the first one shooting a group I could live with. I expect a hunting rifle to do no worse than 1.5" at 100 yard consistantly. I finally got them to do that. I then removed a slight bit of metal from the muzzle cap where it contacted the barrel and groups are now in the 1.25" range. So far, they all shoot one load only and it's the same load in all three. I call them my one trick ponies.
On uger #1 rifles, I have about 20 as I collect the danged things. They run from .22 Hornet to the massive .416 Rigby.
