Model 81-Unique I Assume

The Standard Catalog of Firearms states on values " Add 300 percent for police models with detachable magazines " They did make the Wood master with detachable magazines, and they were used in correction facilities and by the police. When I was just a lad ( a long time ago ) my best friends father, who was a deputy sheriff, had a Model 81, it had a detachable mag and he had a spare mag he carried in a spare hand made leather holster . He said the Sheriff Dept. had ordered three of them. So they are unique and rather scarce,

Also I'd love to know what you know about your rifle KevvK2. Who modified the magazine and such?

The rifles picture have aftermarket detachable magazines done by Krieger & Sons a long time ago. These do not add 300% to the value. The detachable magazines referred to in the Standard Catalog of Firearms are ones by Peace Officer's Equip. Co. and were nearly all 15 round capacity and only offered to law enforecement agencies. Accuracy

Have you guys tried yours out? For the last 15 years (minus one or two somewhere in there) someone in our family has taken Grandpa's gun out for a day and hunted with it. Never in the last 15 years has more than one shot been fired and never has it failed to bring home some beer sticks.

I know that doesn't say much for accuracy as we haven't shot it at a target in many moons, but it never seems to stray much.

I remember this thread from some time ago, and remember thinking that was quite the rifle. Good to see that it still gets used!

Interesting

All not sure if anyone is still tracking this thread. I just adopted my grandfathers model 81 from my brother. Dated it thanks to KevvK2's post, and then checked his pictures. I have a WWW stamped gun, oddly also has the removable mag, and VERY oddly has the exact scope on it. Just wondering if anyone else has seen a similar makeup with the WILLIAMS side mount scope, and 2 my brother lost the clip for that, and I can't seem to find a replacement ANYWHERE. Any ideas from this group???
