Model 41, some help please

Thanks for telling us how it all came out. (It's frustrating when you follow a thread and nobody posts the ending.)

Hope your Model 41 gives you years of pleasure.

"...don't like returning anything that I can do myself..." DIY means instantly voiding your warrantee on a $1400ish pistol.
And there is no pistol that is more particular about the ammo it'll shoot well and cycle than a Smith 41. No two are alike either. Mine shoots 2 brands and nothing else. More about target velocity ammo than HV(that won't bother it in the least.) though. In any case, you have to try a box of as many brands as you can.
"...trigger guard required effort..." It's supposed to. No tools required though.

Thank you all again. I am not too worried about the warranty being voided, unless the frame itself splits, and that would be covered.

James, I do agree with you. That advice would be proper for most people. I do however have some repair ability, actually, enough to know if I am over my head. That was not the case here. I agree that SW should know that one of their expensive items is leaving the factory less than 100%

So far, I tried only CCI SV ammo, which works well. So I ordered a bunch more, as my rifles seem to like it too. Actually, I did try a few CCI Quiets, just to see if it would cycle and of course it didn't. However, they all chambered without drama, and extracted, but all by hand cycling it.

And thanks again GWillikers for giving me the nudge to go ahead, or else I would have missed a great weekend of shooting!!

Kind regards

Rich
