mini Glock .40

I am not a fan of the .40 Slick & Willy for political reasons. I do however have a really nice tricked out G26 that I am VERY fond of. Mine has the grip extensions on all my (stock) mags. They are a necessary (IMHO) option in that they provide support for the little finger. Mine also has a 3.5lb trigger pull. Trijicon night sights round out this little gem. Do I think that I am well defended with this gun?? He!! yes!!! I load with 124gr Rem. Golden Sabers. A very mean round to say the least. At 10-15 yrds I can put all the rounds into the black with very little recoil. When used with a good pocket, or IWB holster this gun disappears. Fear not, my Son. It is not hearesy to pine for a nine. It will serve you well.

The G27/33 are little beasts. Lots of bark and bite. If ya don't like them, don't want to take the time to learn to handle them, get the G26.

Do want something a w more power you shoot a little/lot worse, or something w less power you shoot a little/lot better?

In gel after cloth:

9mm 124 GD +P 1190/390 ft lbs, 18/.53

357 SIG 125 GD 1350/506 ft lbs 18/.54

40S&W 155 GD 1140/448 ft lbs 18/.57

Except for the energy, not a lot of difference?

45ACP 185 GD, 975/390, 16/.66. Now there's a difference. :)

Can't put a G30 in as small a pocket as a G26/27/33 though...

Well I have a 27 and it is the only gun that I carry.

It took some adjusting and a little more practice that say a 26 but for the extra power of the .40 it was well worth it in MHO.

Personally I dont see the 27 recoil issue at all, last Sat I put 400rnds through it in a single outing and did not feel the punishment in the least.

You could get the 26 and start double tapping with it quicker than say the 27, I would rather get the extra power and do the extra practice.

Seriously,,,I dont see the recoil issue,,,my girlfriend barely shoots at all and she could easily shoot 150 rounds without a problem,,,,she loves shooting that 27.

Bottom line,,,,I just think that some people are allot more recoil sensetive than others its obvious and that is not meant as a insult of any kind but this is clearly an issue of different strokes for different folks.

I would hate to see some of you shoot that .50 BMG some gys were shooting at the range last weekend :) :) :) :) :)

My personal opinion, there is no carry pistol on the market that beats the 27 (if you can shoot it).

solved the problem yesterday. my new MK40 is a sweet shooter and i fired around 100 rounds today of 165 gr. PMC FMJ and suffered no ill effects. more accurate than the 27 or my K40 and easier to carry to boot.

I am one that believes in universiality so I would get a G27 only because I have a G22 that I love so much to match. If I didn't, I would probably go with the G26 in 9mm.

Will, When I got my G27, it had JUST hit the market, (1991?) and was on backorder for several weeks before I got it. There was no Pearce grip extension, and NEXT TO NO selection on bullet weights. I'm sure I was firing 180 grain bullets, or whatever the standard was back then.

Some of you guys need to get some instruction on proper two handed technique. My wife, who is 5'7" and weighs 128 lbs, carries a G27 in her purse and shoots 180g JHPs in it with no difficulty. She learned to shoot a 1911 in 45 ACP at a place call Gunsight from a guy named Cooper.

Yeah well, too late buddy! :)
Actually, I have only this opinion... My wife's 5'6", 130, and I believe she handles the recoil on her MK9 better than I do. Why? Maybe because she can get all her slender little fingers on the grip. I'm 6'4", 230, and I can only get my middle finger and HALF a ring finger on her MK9, which feels VERY awkeward. I know recoil is a perception thing, and I attribute it to the grip. Handling and shooting the full size Kahr's feel GREAT, because I can get all but half a pinkie on the gun.

Also, I can shoot my HK USP45 all day long, one handed, two handed, and I don't even notice any recoil.

Lastly, when I say recoil, I mean Muzzle Flip. That's it. I feel like the tiny little gun is going to flip out of my hand every time I shoot it. I have shot (and plan to buy) a Glock 23, and again, it shoots like a dream.

So, in conclusion, I imagine that your little wife can grab that entire gun with her little hand and feel like she's "got hold" of the gun. That's my .02 on why muzzle flip doesn't bother her.

WRT these figures:

"9mm 124 GD +P 1190/390 ft lbs, 18/.53

That's why I don't like Gold Dots. Too much penetration, too little expansion.

I would be interested in the same tests performed with Golden Sabers or Fed HS though.

I suggest ya'll try Agrip. It WILL work. Unconditonally guaranteed, or your money back. www.brookstactical.com Sure the G27 is a bit snappy, heck, it kicks more than my G29 10mm, but, Agrip will handle it, no problem.

Reality ALWAYS takes precedence.

Have shot a 27, have a 23. I guess people like the smaller frame because of its concealability. But the larger frames are easier to shoot. The 23 seems like a good compromise between the 27 and the 22. Full grip, but smaller than the 22. I like Clint Smith's quote, which is (approximately), "A gun isn't supposed to be comfortable; it's supposed to be comforting." Given that, I'd go with the more shootable gun and learn to conceal it, even if it means a change of wardrobe.

YMMV

Those Gold Dots were after cloth BTW.

180/40 HS 20/.59

165/40 GS 16/.61

185/45 GS 16/.68

147/9 HS 15/.57

124/9 HS 13/.53

135/9 HS-PDA 14.5/.60

124/9 GS 13/.60

Not much difference. Those are from longer barrels too. From the shorter Glocks, they go deeper, get smaller too. The 230 HS does about 18/.62 from a G30.

I just got back from shooting school (LFI-3)this weekend. I shot the week long class with my Glock 27 and Glock 32 with .40 barrel. I had no problem getting 6 rounds into the A zone of an IPSC target at 4 yards in less than 1 second with either weapon. Muzzle flip was not that significant a factor for me. Rapid fire hits were also very achievable out to 15 or 25 yards, but at a slower pace that 6 / 1 sec. I found that if you utilize a solid two hand grip and aggressive power stance, controlling the little Glock is no trouble at all. I think it is a matter of technique. I KNOW that I can shoot my little Glock accurately and with great speed. As part of the course, we qualified using the New Hampshire state police course at triple speed. Just my 2 cents. Stay safe!

Good for you. My friend has an MK9, and it is indeed a sweet shooter. I like my G26 though because of the larger magazine capacity. The Kahrs are good guns though.

I love my Glock G27, but without a finger extension it does kick like a mule. I bought finger extensions for all my magazines and it now is quite managable. My G 30 has a slower push on recoil while the G27 is sharper.
Can you imagine what the G33 .357 sig kicks like?
