What is it like "going before the gun board"? Do you go in individually or as a group of applicants and what kind of questions are you asked?

Thanks.

You go in individually. In the old days the board would want to why you felt the need to go about armed, what training you've had, sometimes the sheriff or his representive would ask weird & arcane questions concerning "firearm safety" and fine points of the law. And also to see you in person, ya might be Hitler or Manson ya know.
I did once have a board member ask when was the last time I had and eye exam...no kidding, having drivers license not proof of good vision

When Ficano was sheriff, he took it upon himself to require the letters; and Michigan had already passed a law stating that local requirements could not exceed statewide.
According to Ficano, no. He said the blame sat squarely on the shoulders of Ed McNamara, the Wayne county executive at the time. I don't really know, but I never had any time for either one of these bureaucrats. Thank God for Mike Cox; I hope he runs for governor.;)

It took exactly three months for mine to be approved. Two friends of mine got theirs in Oakland County in just under four weeks.
Yup, and less than 2 weeks for a friend of mine in Macomb. Though 3 months is a lot better than I'm used to, Wayne is still rather pathetic.
