Michael Douglas pushes for tighter gun control

Michael Douglas. . .is he some kind of genius? I thought he was a fourth rate actor who owed his career to family connections, with too much money and too few brains.

Fatal attraction star Michael Douglas is planning to lobby the US government for tighter gun control, because he's still haunted by rocker John Lennon's 1980 shooting death.

Oh boo hoo hoo. He's still... he's still haunted by it! Wahhh!

Talk about a sissy. Get over it, ya lame-o! People die. People die wrongfully. It's the way of the world, and it's not always good. But to call for laws because YOU aren't able to move beyond tragedy, on a personal and emotional level, is just stupid.

Saddest part of this?

Douglas has a long history of being very vocal about being anti gun.

yet

Many of the posters here seem to feel that he's just now coming out for gun control.

Why should we be surprised when ANYONE in Hollywood speaks up about being anti-gun? Pro gun people in the movie/tv business are in a distinct and small minority, have been for years.

Another Hollywood star makes boatloads of money using weapons in violent movies, then urges the world to ban the weapons. Nice.

Yeah, Hal, I know. He's been like that for years.

..John Lennon's death did not affect me anymore than hearing of any other stranger's death in the paper....I don't go to movies much because there are far better movies on TCM....I don't look to today's Hollywood for any advice on anything...

Why do people give celebrities power?

Why do people give celebrities power anyway, who cares what they think.
Just because they have more money than god is no reason to assume they know everything
They pretend for a living, so why do people listen to them when they pretend to know what they are talking about?
The world that movie stars live in is so different from what most of us live in its incomparable.
I see weapons used ( misused ) in pictures all the time, and these are the same people who try to ban them.
Hollywood believes its own Bullsh** and tries to get the rest of use to fall for it too.
I say ban Hollywood, not guns. Pound for pound I bet Hollywood has done more damage than firearms.
Next rapper 50 cent will be on the anti-gun wagon. Seen any of his videos or his movie
“get rich or die trying”? or his new video game “bullet proof “
Hollywood creates a problem and then holds a invitation only event aimed at “solving “that very problem staring Paris ( I bet her parents are proud ) Hilton and Ed the talking horse.
Kalifornia should mind its own business

"Thats my story and i'm sticking to it"

When you realize Hollywood wants your guns and everytime you go to a movie you are paying them to help take them then maybe you will boycott Hollywood. They are the liberal left and use their money to promote gun control.

People should learn to think with their wallet and not give to those who are against what you believe in.

hmm....good reason for me not to feel bad about downloading screeners before the movies get released :D

What I find more disturbing than celebrities touting their political opinions is that so many of the American public pay attention to them.

Ladies and gentlemen, Alec Baldwin of the Film Actor's Guild. Thank you, Team America, for such a hilarious potrayal of Hollywood lunacy.

Michael Douglas who? Lemme see, when was the last time he was in a movie anyway? And, when was the last time it was a good movie? Hmmm, I personally can't think of any.

Now, if memory serves me right, every movie I have ever seen him in, he was using a gun of some sort.

Bunch of celebrity hypocrites.

Hell, next thing you know, Hollywood actors and actresses will be giving advise on marriage!

I make my living in Hollywood.....

I'm a Democrat here in the land of 'fruits and nuts' (California). I never even considered gun ownership.

Until Katrina....

Seeing that made me realize that when the big one (earthquake, or whatever else keeps you up at night) happens, John Q Citizen will be on his own for at least 72 hours.

Here I am. A 'Hollywood Liberal' who will be getting his first gun after a thorough safety/training class.

Love the forums, learn alot.

Thanks

Douglas has always been anti-gun. Nothing new there. I just wish he wouldn't use his popularity to push political views. On the other hand, if I was a popular actor, I would do the same in encouraging responsible firearm ownership and our Second Amendment rights. Kesserman, I hope you begin to do some shooting and really enjoy firearm ownership. It is not just about self-defense.

God luv ya Kesserman. Thankfully others are realizing there's nothing inherent in our liberalism that says you can't defend yourself. You might find my site to be a resource for when your friends give you crap about firearms ownership.

I do think the Hollywood proclivity for anti-gunning statements is hypocritical given how just about every film these days involves the hero achieving the happy ending at the barrel of a gun. But notice they usually make the good guy a LEO...carefully making sure the gun wielding good guy has permission of the state to carry.

Isn't this the guy that claimed to be a sex addict when he was caught cheating on his wife.
And then later denied it when it didn't give the kind of publicity that he had expected.
