Mexico May Take Fence Dispute to U.N.

Mexico can cry foul to the UN all it wants to. Then, Mexico will deal with their own criminals and would be immigrants that try to get into the US.
And another thing, The US should totally ignore the UN. The UN is nothing but a buch of thugs who think they represent a country. None of those people in the UN were elected. They appointed themselves out of tyranny and genocide from their own countries. Heck, even the UN blue helmets are all convicts from different countries.

Does anyone else wonder why none of the all-knowing, and all-seeing, experts here don't run for office? They can immediately point out what is wrong with our policies, and how we should act, but they never seem capable of carrying their commentary beyond the Internet.

Yes. Filing fee alone for a Congressional race runs $ 3,000.00 (Three Thousand Dollars) to place your name on the ballot. That does not count the millions necessary to run advertisments in enough spots to even have a minute chance at winning a seat.

Very few people who honestly wish to serve as a Representatives of the People, can manage to snag up that much money to mount an attempt at nomination to a Congressional race.

Good point. People who work for someone else are effectivel ruled out of participation in the process for the simple reason their income stream stops while campaigning.

It is realy as simple as a high school government class that is required(don't know if it is required by state or federal law) for all high school seniors in order to graduate. On the first day of class my teacher defined government. Among other things for a nation to function, it must be soverign. It is the duty of the government to insure the soverignty of the nation.

If that means a boarder fence, so be it. If that means two fences with landmines in the middle and machine gun nests every 500 feet(not advocating it, but there are those that do), it is the duty of the government to decide in order to protect the soverignty of its nation.

Those decisions are not for the international community to decide. Anyone remember the Berlin Wall? The UN did a fat lot of good then, and the government would be remiss in its duties if it let the UN have anything to say about our boarder with Mexico.

Funny how politics work...

Good laws take forever to pass, but start passing bills that consolidate power and it gets through like wildfire.

Voting can cure that problem.

IMO, America should solve this problem by merely quitting the UN, tearing the building in NYC down, and refusing to recognise any authority from them.

If only it was that simple. The rest of the world hates us enough, without ignoring the UN like a third-world dictator. There are foreign nationals that have more money in the US economy than all of us on this board put together. Seriously POing the international community could potentialy ruin the US economy.

We are within our rights to build the fence, many nations have boarder fences. What gets me is that Bush said it would be impossible to control the entire boarder. I say give the Army Corp of Engineers all the cinderblocks and mortar they want and tell 'em to go to town.
