Mexico Demands U.S. Allow More Immigration

By MARK STEVENSON

MEXICO CITY

Diplomats from Mexico and Central America on Monday demanded guest worker programs and the legalization of undocumented migrants in the United States, while criticizing a U.S. proposal for tougher border enforcement.

Meeting in Mexico's capital, the regional officials pledged to do more to fight migrant trafficking, but indirectly condemned a U.S. bill that would make illegal entry a felony and extend border walls.

"Migrants, regardless of their migratory status, should not be treated like criminals," they said.

The countries represented at the meeting _ including Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Panama _ created a working group to design a regional policy to avoid migrant abuse and to follow the course of the legislation.

"There has to be an integrated reform that includes a temporary worker program, but also the regularization of those people who are already living in receptor countries," Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez said.

Here's the first paragraph again (with emphasis and parsing):
Diplomats (read: thugs in suits) from Mexico and Central America on Monday demanded guest worker programs and the legalization of undocumented migrants (read: full citizenship for lawbreakers who are here by treachery) in the United States, while criticizing a U.S. proposal for tougher border enforcement.
I can't believe the insolence of these people - demanding that our government not crack down on illegal immigration. Mexico's second largest source of income is money sent home by illegal immigrants. I guess they're just trying to protect their pocketbooks.

"demanded"

Who used that term? The diplomats or the reporter? Did Mexico release a statement with an official "demand" or are they simply asking for these things as diplomats do? I don't suppose our diplomats have ever "demanded" anything from other nations...

My only fear with illegal immigrants is that it leaves open a door for enemies of the state to enter the US. This is yet another example of how trying to stop something that in itself should not be a crime is only causing more problems. Make it easier for them to come into the US via legal methods, easier than if they came over illegally, and you'll see a drastic drop in illegal immigration in addition to making it far, far easier to patrol the borders for people that are a threat to the nation, not this fantasy threat that people have of them "taking our jyerbs!"

Oh, and I support Carlos Mencia's deportation ideas. At the very least we should have fun with it and send them to other countries.

"Where's he from?"
"El Salvador."
"Send him to Nicaragua. That guy?"
"He's from Tijuana."
"Panama!"

Relax... it's only humor.

The idea of unlimited immigration is bad. Forget the "taking our jobs" mantra. Immigration is a necessary part in the survival of a nation, as is the maintenance of border security.

No political entity can survive the cost of open borders. Our health-care system isn't designed to service non-paying illegals. Our educational system is burdened enough without caring for illegals, and for their demands for bi-lingual and "relevant" class demands. Our Social Services programs are not designed for an ever-expanding role in international socialism.

America, and it's Constitution, are for American Citizens, first and foremost. The influx of illegals, many of whom are criminals in their own homelands, only serves to dilute and deflect the available services away from citizens in need of them.

Just how fair is it to those who have waited years to emigrate to the U.S. legally to see air-headed politicians making services that they aren't eligible for available to illegals?

Populations, and the problems associated with them, are the subject of any number of studies. One of the worst things that we can do as a country is abdicate the responsibility government owes it's citizens for health, safety, and security. The influx of illegals is already costing citizens millions of dollars in property destruction, health and social services demands, and law enforcement beyond our borders. The United States DOES NOT OWE any other government a responsibility to accept their people into our society.

While "diplomats" encourage, finagle, demand, or whatever you call it. The United States provides massive amounts of aid and trade concessions to the very countries making such requests. Perhaps we should re-evaluate our foreign aid programs, as they are obviously siphoning the money to other political projects.

I would be curious as to how these countries can demand that we open our borders, when they do not respond in kind. Perhaps when the Mexican, Panamanian, and other Latin and South American countries allow undocumented Americans access to their social, educational, and health systems, as well as issuing licenses and legal documents, and requiring bi-lingual signage, we could understand. Especially when those systems equal ours.:barf:

I say let them in but its going to cost them. O say one barrel of oil per day for every guess worker we let in. We'll call it the guess worker tax.

Really! I think those south-of-the-border yahoos should be told that the US is not a "receptor" country, but a "rejector" country.

Vinnie needs to hire his bud, Dick Morris, to get a clue about how to defeat the rising anger against illegal border jumpers. Since Dick consulted on Vinnie's campaign for prez, he should tell him the smart play would be to tell the Great Fed Up anything it wants to hear. You know, "we feel your pain" or "we're workin' as hard as we can to stop . . " or "the Mexican army will patrol the US border to turn back those dirty illegals immigrants." But noooo, Vinnie continually sticks his thumb in the Great Fed Up's eye. "You guys are stoopid" or "You're not doing enough" or "You can't stop us from reclaiming our homeland."

Keep it up Vinnie. Your idiocy is making it all the easier for us "Nativists" or "Screamers" to demand and get what we want. You are not nearly as smart as you need to be to play in this league.

It was the house republicans who pushed this bill through, the vote was almost party line.
Does that surprise anyone?

Since the Democrats refuse to modify their platform to attract American voters, importing voters is the only way they will ever regain a national majority in this country.

Annexing Mexico and making it the 51st state might help for awhile

I second that, and while we're at it, let's go ahead and make Canada the
52nd state. Then we could put an end to all their ridiculous gun laws and
anti-American attitudes.

Do you really think it would be a good idea to introduce the Canadian Liberal Party and it's followers into our voting public?

Not interested in Canada; wrong direction. But uniting with Mexico isn't a bad idea. After all, we already took two thirds of the country. Maybe we should take back the Canal Zone.

On the other hand, maybe we could give back California.
