Mexico asks UN to stop Arizona ranchers

Can you say "Reconquista"?

While I have no huge animus against those who want a better life (beyond basic gate-crashing and the simple fact that we can't absorb the poverty of the third world), there are also those who are 'trash' (Marielitos come to mind). Hard to tell the difference in the moonlight or when they're 'traversing'/trashing/appropriating your property. Most aren't a threat, but again, how do ya tell? I wouldn't want to hurt the innocents, but who/what are they?

Clearly the US Gov. ain't doin' it's job, tell the F'ing Mexican gov't to keep thier people home or risk the consequences. We have no obligation to be nice to them, any more than they'd be nice to us if the circumstances were reversed (among teh reason I'll never go to Mexico on vacation). If I lived there (in AZ), I'd post MY property, set concertina wire, lay mines ON MY PROPERTY, and let the devil take the dummies. & Of course, when I'm elected God, there will be many changes, I have a very long list . . . .

This story has snowballed with every report.
At first the newspapers stories said that the ranchers were defending their property by arresting trespassers and some might have guns.
Then, there were reports that maybe the ranchers pointed guns at the bad guys to arrest them.
Now, they are supposedly firing shots and hunting the people, and the word "vigilante" is used profusely.
I love the way the media makes the story grow.

Ive spent a lot of my life on the border and the illegals come accross in waves around elpaso......for a time I could sit on the roof and watch them cross by the train tracks.....Then again when I lived in yuma and was traveling to sierra vista, I got stuck in the heat of the day in sand, two "wets" came walking out of a arroyo and helped me unstick the vechicle, it was just me against them in the middle of no were---I offered them a ride, but we were going in different directions,,,,all they asked for was water and that I gave them happily. That was almost 30 years ago, and the attitudes have changed i believe...fubsy.

Somehow, I think the point is being missed here. The point is LEGAL American citizens are having their property trashed by ILLEGAL entrants who, apparently have more rights than American citizens.
I think it is darn well time we got rid of all these liberals that think everyone but Americans have rights in America.
The local news here in Tucson sent a crew down to investigate the ranchers claims of their properties being trash. it was terrible. It looked like our local landfill. There were spots where the trash was scattered over large areas.
I don't blame the ranchers on the border one bit for feeling the way they do.
If mexico don't like it, they can take a flying leap at a splintery knothole.

One reason the leftists are so furious at these ranchers, is that they are trying to defend private property. Liberals, especialy those in FedGov, are anoyed by private property.

Oleg,

Having read hundreds of your posts during the last year, I have come to respect your judgment, knowledge, and insight.

I would like to comment on your post to this thread. We are all immigrants (save Native Americans). My four grandparents emigrated from Germany about a hundred years ago. Without any question, emigration has been a vital force in continuously making this nation strong, innovative, free, prosperous, opportunity-rich, and (in most ways) the envy of the entire world.

I believe, however, that it is very important to distinguish between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration. Most legal emigrants -- as you understand better than I -- are committed to this nation and to making their future as part of our society. Many illegals, however, are transitory, seeking higher wages (and benefits) to support families in other nations. In my opinion, this is a most significant difference: One group intends to remain here and to see its children and grandchildren succeed as part of the United States, while the other does not tie its long-term future to this nation and our people. Therefore, I strongly support well-managed LEGAL immigration and strongly oppose all ILLEGAL immigration.

With respect to the concept of jeopardizing our national security due to illegal immigration, I certainly believe that it is currently endangered. During my two-decade career as a Naval officer, I attended the Defense Department's foremost senior service school (National Defense University) at Fort McNair in Washington, DC. The curriculum made it very clear that national sovereignty demands control of ones boarders. Obviously, the Clinton Administration has opted not to restrict illegal emigration from Mexico -- we do not control this boarder.

Finally, the landowners in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California whose personal and property rights are continuously violated by illegal immigration have a legitimate entitlement to protect their land, possessions, and lives.

Arizona has a problem and I feel for the landowners on the border. They, not the intruders, are between a rock and a hard place. If bad guys kept illegally breaking into your property and the police didn't do anything about it, you'd be forced to take the situation in your own hands. Forget about any other arguement about the illegals intentions good or bad. They are illegal, period. The local and State authorities have the clear responsibility to see to it that it stops. Since they have abrogated their responsibility, however, the land owners have the right to protect themselves, their families, and their property. They don't go looking for trouble. It is being delivered to their doorsteps every night. This has all the earmarks of a tinderbox and I fully expect to wake up some morning and reading about a full-fledged fire fight on the border when some really bad guys try to come across. Or maybe an Arizona family will be murdered in their homes by someone looking for a car or money.
Let me make it clear that I support anyone who wants to emmegrate to our wonderful country but I am sick and tired of jelly-spined individuals who try to make this and incidents like this a human interest story. This is so clear cut that I find it impossible to understand how anyone can see this differently. Do you want to come to live and work in this country? Then do it legally and give your family a better life.
By the way, did you know that over 90% of Arizona is owned by the Federal or State government? That's right, less than 10% of Arizona is available for purchase by homeowners, businesses, or ranchers!

Bring back the Texas Rangers in their origional form and let them do their thing. Arizona could revive their Ranger program. If the feds won't do their part, then the states must standup and do the job to protect it's citizens. Here in south Texas, we are being overrun. We even celebrate the mexican holiday of the 5th of May. The border has gotten to be a very dangerous place again. It is time for radical action.

My $.02:

I agree with and support legal immigration to the U.S. If you come here to contribute and to be Americans, I welcome you.

The immigrants who find thier way into the U.S. both, leagly and illeagly, who do not contribute, I have a problem with. By that I mean those who show no inclination to learn our language and customs, and send the money they earn here back to thier home country.

It seems to me they don't want to be Americans, they want to be "XXX" IN america
That just bothers me. I see it quite a bit any more

A good example is the asian woman who does my wife's nails. She openly admits that all the money her and her husband make goes back home. She also complains about how her husband (who is an engineer) couldn't get hired by the D.O.D. because he couldn't pass the background security check. They honestly believe they have been discriminated against and are talking lawsuit.

Geeez....What next....

Am I too xenophobic?

America LEGALLY immigrates more people every year than ALL other countries COMBINED.

Let's keep that in mind before we go any further.

These Mexican people are not interested in being part of America to make her great. They want to make a few bucks, use our welfare system and health care with priority over us (the people that pay for it) and then take their money home and give it to Mexico. Ask many of them and they have no interest in living here, just getting some money and heading back. If they wanted to live here, they would spend their money and time trying to get residency rather than spending $5000US to sneak across the border.

Our country has zero population growth other than immigration and due to immigration we are growing very fast and becoming overburdened. We cannot feed the world. They need to improve their own State rather than milking off ours, or they can become legal residents here and become Americans (in every sense of the term). These people are not Americans and have no interest in it. They either want to make money and take it back to their country, or they want to just overrun the Southwest and "Reconquista" it as their own. I love people who are Americans at heart, no matter where they come from, but these people see America as a big money sign $$$ and nothing more. Live here for a while, walk a mile in our shoes, before you choose to comment.

Ps- The "Native American Indians" are immigrants here also. Archeological/Anthropological finds show that very eary Europeans where actually the first to come to America 60K years ago to the east coast. Later, Asians came across the Bering Straight and inhabited the West, very likely being the ancestors of what are today "Native American Indians". No one can claim America, we are all immigrants, but it is very simple: come here and be an American or don't come.

I and a friend, while in the military in San Diego, used to catch illegal immigrants for fun on a Friday night... why cross over into Tiajuana and get drunk and robbed when you can have so much more fun stateside?

We'd hunker down in a drainage ditch or in some bushes and wait. Wouldn't have to wait long. We'd turn over our "catch" to the USBP. An average night would yield 8-10. Some of the BP agents were amused and grateful... Others, who were apparently more savvy to the politics of the situation, seemed pretty uncomfortable about it.

I recall, once, a human wave probably 80-100 strong coming over the wall. Needless to say the two of us stood down.

It was also an opportunity to study the USBP tactics-- hardly a deterrant, IMO. Put it this way: I bet our 8-10 body contribution made quite a spike in their statistics.

AK-9,
The reason we in Texas celebrate Cinco De Mayo is because the General who drove the French from Monterey was General Zaragoza (SP?). He was a Native born Texan from Goliad. We don't celebrate the 5th of may to honor Mexicans. In Mexico, Cinco De Mayo is a small obscure local fiesta around the Monterey area.
I think the U.S. Government should just give up on the border patrol. Give that money back to the states, and let us patrol our own borders. We'd probably do it a lot better than the Feds, but then again, what do the Feds do better than the State and Local Governments anyway?
