Mexicans shoot at Border Patrol
Agents disembarking helicopter
come under soldiers' fire

For the second time this year, Mexican army soldiers have crossed into the United States and fired upon U.S. Border Patrol agents, leaving Border Patrol union members furious and demanding federal intervention.

According to L. Keith Weeks, vice president of the National Border Patrol Union Local 1613 in San Diego, Calif., two border patrolmen who had just disembarked from a "clearly marked Border Patrol helicopter" immediately came under fire from a 10-man unit of what appeared to be soldiers with the Mexican army.

In a statement, Weeks said the incident occurred Oct. 24 in Copper Canyon, about eight miles east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. Weeks confirmed the contents of the statement to WorldNetDaily.

"It happened," he said yesterday. "These agents departed their helicopter and were immediately fired upon."

Weeks said about eight shots were fired. The Mexican military unit was dressed in military-style uniforms with tactical vests and carried "high-powered military rifles with bayonets," he said.

As the agents began to receive fire, they took cover in thick brush nearby. Weeks said they shouted in Spanish that they were U.S. Border Patrol agents, but "were nonetheless pursued by some of the soldiers," who crossed into the United States by entering through a well-maintained barbed-wire fence.

As the Mexican soldiers came after the border agents, other soldiers set up a pair of sniper positions -- one inside Mexico and the other inside the U.S., "pointing their weapons in the direction of the [agents]," said Weeks.

The soldiers, in Spanish, ordered the agents out of the brush, but they refused. Instead, the agents re-identified themselves and ordered the soldiers to return to Mexico.

"Once other Border Patrol agents neared the scene," Weeks said, "the soldiers retreated to Mexico and drove off in a minivan."

Last week's incident marks the second time in less than seven months that armed Mexican army units have crossed into U.S. territory and fired on Americans.

On March 14, Mexican soldiers crossed the border in two Mexican army Humvees, firing on a Border Patrol vehicle near Santa Teresa, N.M.

Border Patrol union officials said the Mexicans chased the Americans over a mile onto U.S. soil. The Humvees held about 16 "heavily armed" soldiers.

The lead Mexican army vehicle contained nine soldiers "armed with seven automatic assault rifles, one submachine gun and two .45 caliber pistols," and was eventually apprehended by other Border Patrol units. The second Humvee, however, "pursued a Border Patrol agent on horseback and fired a shot at him. The soldiers then disembarked their vehicle, fired upon one more Border Patrol agent and chased another agent before fleeing [back] to Mexico in their vehicle."

Union officials said the members of the lead Mexican army vehicle were debriefed and eventually allowed to return to Mexico with their arms and vehicle.

At that time, Mariela Melero, regional spokesperson for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, told WorldNetDaily that high-level contacts with the Mexican government regarding the incident were in the works, but had no specifics.

Border Patrol officials in March confirmed that the Juarez cartel, one of Mexico's biggest drug gangs, has placed a bounty of $200,000 on U.S. lawmen.

Somebody is going to get killed and we know damn well it will be an American. Then there will an "investigation" (read: cover-up), then there will be statements like "We will be sure that this never happens again" and the media will bury the story from then on.

Just what the heck is going on down there?!

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

Since the illegals that are here now were foing to be fast tracked into citizens hips so they could vote (for Gore the Bore I would assuem) and there is a buncha drug money going someplace, I can understand why there has not a better response from Washington. Ship the BP a few A-10 warthogs, a ton of ammo and then let 'em scrap out any Mexican military vehicle found north of the border.

If I - or any other American - fired a shot anywhere near a Federal LEO, they'd throw the book at me: attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon - the list goes on and on. I couldn't get away with saying "Oops, sorry, I made a mistake." But foreign nationals do the same, and it's all covered up by the Feds and the dominant press. Something stinks to high heaven here. (BTW, I didn't see that the agents returned fire. Aren't they armed?)

This makes no sense... What the Heck does the Mexticalli Army have to gain by shooting at US Agents? I'm starting to doubt the validity of WorldNetDaily.com's ability to report real news.

If someone can explain why this would happen (even if it is a stupid move) i'd like to hear it.

"[Even if there would be] few tears shed if and when the Second Amendment is held to guarantee nothing more than the state National Guard, this would simply show that the Founders were right when they feared that some future generation might wish to abandon liberties that they considered essential, and so sought to protect those liberties in a Bill of Rights. We may tolerate the abridgement of property rights and the elimination of a right to bear arms; but we should not pretend that these are not reductions of rights." -- Justice Scalia 1998

If in fact the Juarez cartel has put up $200,000 US as has been rumored, I think we have the answer to why this is happening. The question remains "What are we going to do about it?" BP agents with little or no support, under fire , is a sad situation. How about it WJC ?

gee whiz, aren't these guys armed ???

Let's go over this once more for those who missed it - concealment does not = cover.

A bush is not 'cover'.

I agree with the order for A10 coverage, and maybe some arty.

Crap! I've been mentally oriented toward a Chicom SHTF scenario.

Now I gotta learn, "Give me liberty or kiss my a$$" in Spanish too! :)

Since they're down there fighting a war, trying to stop an invasion, give the BP M16A2's, crew served weapons, VHF radios with some on-call pre-plotted arty and air support . . . or am I thinking like a Jarhead again??

Fire mission: Yankee Zulu 245660 personnel in light vehicles. variable timed high explosive.

Shot.

Shot out.

Drop 100 and fire for effect.

Jarhead out.

Maybe we can start running JTF missions against the Mexicans again? Augment a BP patrol with a USMC M240G team, or maybe a SMAW and we'll see how the Mexicans like it. Maybe run a couple of live ambushes and the flow of drugs and illegals would stop, eh? I remember when we went to the Gulf war and the illegals stopped coming over because of the rumor that we were snatching them up and sending them to fight in Saudi. This would be even better!
"Hey Juan, you gonna go shoot at the gringos with me?"
"Hell no, man. You hear about Raul? The Marines and the BP devils blew him up and they are wearing his ears, man!"
"Jesu! Heck with this crap! Let's go roll some college gringos in TJ."

I have a good friend that is a BP agent in the area that the first incident took place. His understanding is that the Mexican military patrol didn't think it had crossed into the US and that they believed the first two BP agents were drug smugglers. When the word went out on the net that agents had been fired upon by Mex military, every swinging d*ck grabbed anything they could (M4, MP5, etc) and joined in a Mexican standoff.

None of the line agents could believe they were allowed to return to Mexico as though nothing had happened and they believe, probably so, that some higher up in DC overrode the local guys who wanted them in jail.

No, they'd return fire and annihilate you.

It doesn't sound like the BP agents returned fire. I wonder if they're under orders not to.

Hmmm. The Mexican Army consists of Christians with guns. Let's call ATF! They'll have them all roasted and gassed to death within a month or so.

VinceMP,
Usefull phrases in spanish:
"Da me libertad o da me un beso en el culo" - Give me liberty or kiss, well, you know.

" Pongan los armas en la tierra, hijos de putas!" - Put your guns on the ground, you sons of,well, you know.

" Estamos en Los Estados Unidos, bienvenido a su entierra." -We are in the United States, welcome to your funeral.

" Besan los culos adios, comemierdas!" - Kiss you a$$es goodbye, motherf***ers!

I hope this has been a usefull lesson. Make sure that you practice these phrases often, especially if you are on Border Patrol.

I believe we have two organiztions which should be adequate to stop the incursions of armed foreign soldiers into our country, the Army and the Marines.
