Mexican Army rides into Texas

I though this kinda weird. The Mexican army is running 40 truck convoys in to Texas delivering supplies for the relief aid. They were escorted in by US military and Texas poilce. When was the last time there was military of a foreign nation on our soil to help up out with disaster relief, or just to help for anything for that matter. Does anyone know if the Mexican Army was armed when they were delivering the supplies. The last bit was just to throw someting firearms related into the pic.

Was Mexico the last county to aggressively send troops onto our soil? During the Mexican-American War of course.

The Japanese invaded an island (Kiska?) in the Aleutians as part of the Midway campaign during World War II, and they stayed for a considerable period of time.

Thanks Mexico - for your relief assistance.

Maybe you can take back some of your citizens on the return trip.

Lets see the Luftwaffe had a Detachment for training at the ADA School at Ft. Bliss. The wives operated a canteen with good beer and the jagerschintzel melted in your mouth

They also have an international school at Ft. Bliss... JDF and everything else.

Lots of foriegn troops training on US soil :D

Well during the Mexican American war Mexico sent troops over the Rio Grande into Texas for some time. Of course to them that was part of their country then. We took like 1/3 of their land during the Mex-Amer war.

IIRC the last time the Mexican Army was in Texas was in 1836 :D . They may have slipped over the border a time or two after that chasing one bandit or another though.

They came in this time, unarmed, on a mission of mercy. Bless them one and all for that.

It's nice that they are helping, but there is no doubt in my mind that Fox is playing some angle on this. I'm sure it has to do with buttering up his pal Bush to not do anything about the immigration issue.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that self-interest is part of their motivation. I think that's more the rule than the exception in situations of official goverment diplomacy. Certainly the US government didn't help out after the Tsunami just because they cared.

For private citizens and charities, it's a completely different matter - these people are clearly donating from the heart, because it's for people that they've never had any relationship with, and in all likelihood, never will.

I don't care why they are doing it. Thanks.. We appreciate the help and now leave. Basically what we were told after the tsunami.

In WW II, the Germans also landed spies on our East Coast. Thankfully, the FBI was onto them real quick.

BTW, humanitarian aid, whether from Mexico or elsewhere, should be accepted with gratitude.

They were not allowed to carry any arms while working in US to assist in NO. A simple thanks for their help is in order, regardless of why guys.

No, the image of slapping them in the face while they are helping out.

Everyone always asks, where is the help when America needs it. now, we do need it, and some of the poorest countries have offered assistance. Some of whom can't afford it, and some that are giving literally all that they can. And people just want to bring up all their problems as to why we shouldn't accept their offer.

Accept all their offers up to what we need. Don't waste their time and resources just to make them happy, but if they are offering something we need, graciously accept it. If Iran or Vietnam offered aid, I'd even say accept it. Take Venezuala up on their offer.

They could not possibly drop off enough food or water to compensate for the Billions of dollars spent by our country to deal with their problem.

Accept all their offers up to what we need.

On that note, I heard a rumor that Castro's Cuba was offering 1100 Doctors/Surgeons to help, and we(Prez. Bush) were yet to reply.

Is there any truth to this? If there is, why would we turn them down if we really need them?

If they did come over to help they'd be unarmed, NO AK-47s.
