Memorial Day weekend guns

Unexpectedly I got the chance to go out today after all. So because of reading and posting on this post earlier this week I took some of them out.

I envy you guys who actually have somewhere available to shoot this very special weekend as most places of business (firearms related at least) are closed in my area (and I might add, justifiably so IMO). I am trying to move to a rural area before I turn gray (it's a life objective for me) so I can shoot at my leisure (like some of you lucky guys that probaly take it for granted not realizing us city-slickers are stuck so to speak ).

-Honoring Our Fallen Heroes this Memorial Day Weekend

I will be a range officer all day tomorrow. But I am firing my 1911's and asking God to let my shots serve as a reminder for a few fallen comrades.

The Two

The obvious two handguns that come to mind during this very special Memorial Day would be the only two sidearms (official) of which our soldiers have been issued and carried into battle over the last 100+ years. For me it's like your children in that there is no 'favorite' as I admire them both equally. The 1911A1 is a IAC Regent R100 and the 92 while not a Beretta is as close as it gets--I have always preferred the Brazilian 92 model over its Italian counterpart but for me it's a coin toss as to which one I recommend. Once again, God Bless our Nation's fallen soldiers and a heartfelt Thank-You to all of our Vets):

I think you are wrong. Quite certain a large number of official issue revolvers involved in both world wars.

johnwilliamson062,

I think you are correct Sir--I should have written "pistol." To the best of my knowledge, those are the only two "officially" issued sidearms? Does that sound right?

-Cheers

Just for fun a few of the U.S. issued side arms through the years.
In the first picture discard the 2nd pistol on the left, It is late Ottoman empire not American issue.
The third picture the top pistol on the left was issued to both North and South during our civil war while the top right had only limited issue in the confederacy most used by the south were privately aqu
