McCain, Whats so Bad About Him?

That link makes him appear better than I think he is.Hes a RINO and a traitor to American ideals if you ask me.

Well, another thing that I added to my list against him is a statement he made today after the so-called Border security/immigration bill failed twice already this morning. He said that they would keep bringing it up until it passed. BTW, the vote in the senate was sometihng like 65 against. Frist called for it to be voted on three more times immediately after it failed. This kinda pissed me off.

Add to that the ultimate tantrum that McCain threw after he did not get the nomination in 2000 and several of his cosponsorships of liberal bills, and yeah, he's a RINO

You ever hear of the McCain-Feingold Bill? Otherwise known as the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act?

If you have, then you do not need to ask. If you don't, look up the terms and get back to us.

Senator McCain is a damaged politician. He is responsible for a lot of statist legislation harmful to life, liberty, and property.

McCain-Feingold--AKA Campaign Finance Control
Gunshow Loophole closing legislation
Advocate of Patriot I and II

In a closely divided senate he is playing the maverick card to the tee.

He is the favorite son of Big Media and that alone makes him suspect.

Clinton was smart and charismatic.

Hitler was as well.

Martin Sheen can be very charismatic, should he be president?

Bottom line is he is a RINO of the worst sort. He would also trample an old lady to get air time. He seems to relish acting as a manipulator of senate votes in order to force the White House to consider him some sort of equal. He orchestrated the BS deal about Senatorial consultation for judge seats. He sold fine judges down the river rather than force the issue in the Senate. He will oppose his own party not for moral grounds but to gain personal publicity.

He served his nation in uniform and I thank him for that. Now shut up and get out of Washington.

Need I go on...

I've always thought McCain was what I'd call a "Republicrat"

But then, I'm not a Republican. I'm too far right to be considered a republican.:)

McCain is responsible for or supported greivous attacks on our fundamental rights:

1. Freedom of Speech
McCain-Feingold, desires to muzzle 527s, and desires to muzzle folks who talk on the 'net about politics during election season, if they happen to be effective about it. (It is a "contribution," dontcha know, to vocally & effectively support an issue or candidate...in HIS mind).

2. Right to Bear Arms
He is no friend of the RKBA. AWB, gunshow "loophole," etc., supporter.

I could go on, but the above is enough for me to discount him.

I've been wrong before, and may be again in my lack of trust for Mr. McCain. However, I wonder how a man living on a Navy pension goes from the poorest US Senator to one of the wealthiest? I do not think he got his money from his wife, the Hennsley Brewing heiress; local (Phoenix) newspapers claim a pre-nupt says none of Daddy's money for Johnny boy.

McCain, as the champion of campaign reform, mounted his offensive against "soft money" contributions. That all sounds noble, warm, & fuzzy, and got him LOTS of favorable press. But the real problem is "hard money" contributions. Hard money brought in 4.4 to 1 over soft money in the 2000 elections. These are the big contributions by the ultra wealthy or special interest groups.

McCain is not alone in this by any means, but I belive his 'reformer, straight-talk' badge is a bit tarnished. I think he (like too many other politicians) chooses what is popular over what is correct.

McCain reminds me of a barnyard dog with a mouthful of feathers, barking loudly about how he has saved the chickens from the wolves.

Welcome to the wonders of DC. McCain's story is actually quite common. IIRC George McGovern had to hock his wife's jewelry in a bid for the senate. By the time he retired he had amassed a sizeable fortune.

I keep hoping a graduate of congress (Duke Cunningham comes to mind) would write an expose of just why it is idealistic people go to congress and shortly thereafter go "native." I live an a state just loaded with DC representatives who all showed great promise in bucking the system only to go native. At one time I heard of factor known as "Guided Investments" whereby investment advice is offered and is astoundingly effective. I am reminded of a story about Strom Thurmond where a little seen article in the paper announced his purchase of a parcel of land from the local power company. Within a few months the highway department published the route of the city's future loop. And wouldn't you know it, Strom's parcel of land was right smack dab in the middle of the interchange of the loop and an interstate. Just amazing.

For future reference McCain is the Chairman of the senate Commerce Committee which is supposed to be the single most influential committee seat in DC. The entire US economy is part of the chairman's perview. The opportunity for profiting from "guided investments" is profound, all nice and legal mind you. I am not accusing McCain or anyone else of legal corruption but I do think it amounts to moral corruption. This is the reason why I favor 6 year max in congress. One term for senator and three terms for reps.

Waitone -

Great comments. I'm with you on everything but the "6 year max in congress. One term for senator and three terms for reps."

Term limits perpetuate my lack of involvement. We are getting exactly what we deserve as a nation, we believe that all we need is another law passed to cover our lack of interest/participation.

Sorry for this hijack of the post!

McCain is not to be trusted

McCain was a hero in Vietnam - went to war, fought for what he was told to fight for, didn't run to Canada, was shot down and suffered for years of brutal abuse as a POW.

Since then, he has sold his soul for a shot at the big time, AKA the White House. He is as antigun as any Republican, with the possible exception of field marshall Guiliani. He has one foot in the Republican party, one foot in the Democrat/socialist party. Seems like he is trying to triangulate, like "I did not inhale/have sex with that woman" Clinton used to. The question to ask about McCain is: When it comes time to make a choice, what will he do?
My guess is he will wear the (R) tag and worship at the Democrat/socialist altar - which is pretty much what he's doing now.

Bottom line: McCain is not to be trusted, if you value your rights - gun rights or otherwise. He made that clear with the McCain-Feingold law, which was designed to muzzle progun groups within 60 days of elections, with his singing and dancing for Patriot Act I and II, and his attack on gun shows.

His campaign motto should be, "Once you lose your integrity, the rest is easy."

What's wrong with him?

What about: Congress shall pass no law abridging freedom of speech or the press?

Both of which McCain and Feingold's bill violated. The Constitution makes it clear under no circumstances, even if aliens from planet Xenu or Jesus Christ himself comes descending down from heaven in a flaming chariot with winged pink monkeys flying out of his butt, should that kind of a law be passed.

But that bastard goes out and sponsors it and the rest of the tyrants in the government sign/uphold it except Scalia, Thomas and Rhenquist.

That's a big plus one. I couldn't have said it any better myself.:p

He's a statist pig. Nuff said. I'm convinced he has traded his recent support of Bush for the top spot on the '08 ticket, or at a minimum the promise that the Bush machine wouldn't come and crap on him like did in 2000. Hint: Google "McCain fathers black child"

I don't trust him. He is about as much Dem and Rep. He is Pro Choice which make him unsat for my vote.
