Mauser Crazy

Thanks again. It shoots very accurately and flat. Last time I hunted with it I put the round through a boar's ears (in one, out the other) from 90 yards.

Here is a better shot of the wood. It has an oiled finish.

Both of my hunting rifles are Mausers, the other is a FN Browning High Power shown in some of the other threads.

I have a beater VZ 24 still in 8MM, one from which someone cut off the forestock a long time ago. They just sanded the cut end, filled in some holes in the stock with wood putty, and left it at that. It's still got the iron sights, looks miserable and the gun's metal has some severe finish issues but that thing is one accurate shooter. A local gun shop had an old wooden barrel with a bunch a distressed rifles in it, all for real cheap, and this was one of them. It cost $75.00 and I love it.

Great looking rifle. I love FN and Mauser actions.I read somewhere all those stampings on the receiver mean something, like IN WHAT PLANT it was made and so on.
I think the 257 Roberts is a good caliber. I had a FN in 22-250 that I just loved.It was also a flat shooter. Drive a thumbtack at a 100 yrds. I
just scored a thumbhole/Mauser /22-250/done by Johnston Automatics who built customs in the late 70's. I will report back when it arrives.
AGAIN NICE RIFLE DUTCH
