I have a chance to buy a Marlin model 40 (coast to coast) .22lr. Just wondering the history of these rifles. Are these rifles the same as the model 60? The rifle I am buying is said to have Marlin model 40 Coast to Coast on the barrel. The rifle is said to be made in the 70's with the micro grooved barrel. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

That is a Marlin 99C. Same basic action as the Model 60, but with an upper handguard and barrel band to try to make it look like an M1 Carbine.

It has serial number 27117XXX. Anyone know what year this gun was made? It also came with a Ted Williams Sears 3x-6x riflescope. I don't know anything about these scopes. Any help is appreciated
