Marlin 1894 44Mag

Real good info. I hope the 180's are safe. I have 80 rounds I have to burn one way or another.Guess I'll use them in the swamp on pigs and armadillas.more to these lever guns than I thought.

sure

The 180's I mentioned in my post were all HP's. A JSP slug should be a bit "harder", and may perform a bit better than the XTP hollow points, I used. I'm betting your Marlin is twisted 1-38" and should really like the short, stubby 180's.

I've seen factory 180 JSP's on a few occassions, but the prices were too high for me to buy. Sounds like you got a deal. They will be grim death on 'dillo's and any small to medium pig in the 125-150 class I feel certain.

They certainly will be "safe", you just will not get the penetration on larger, bigger animals that the heavy slugs will produce.

Loaded 20 of the 180's today and was surprized they shot better groups than the 240's did.almost 1 ragged hole @ 90 yds. reloaded to shoot the next group would'nt you know it my Redfield scope crapped the bed, went off paper to the left and wont come back.Aint that a ham sandwich so i'll get another scope an start over.:( But that was a blast while it lasted.
