Marines "Urban Warrior" in North Carolina.

Longjohn:
Not a problem. It just that as a Marine Officer, it seem that ever day on a boards like this one I see people who aren't Marines, complaining about the training and experimentation the Marines are doing. And instead of asking someone whom might know they go around assuming. In all the training I have done, I have never been ask to, told to, or trained to disarm American. Unfortunately, those that are complaining aren't the ones that will go into harms way to push America influence on others. If they where I don’t think they would say the training was so unnecessary, when their butts were on the line.

I'm not sure, depends on what the situation plays out like.

Anyhow, I'll let you know. I'm planning on going fishing and flounder giggin there a couple days early next week - depending on weather.

Now, does the North Carolina statute regarding disclosure of concealed carry apply to a US military person - off base, they would not normally qualify as law enforcement officers.... I'd hate to get in any trouble by not fully understanding the law:-)

Maybe they have some reasons to train for some "new" type of urban warfare. I hope they are still traing for the more conventional types, for it seems to me that this is a real good way to at best bog down and at worst really maul some of best combat units.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But don't we have laws that say that the military cannot do this sort of thing? Maybe some of you Constitutional lawyers can shed some light on this. I think it is called Posse Comatatus.

Denfoote:
The constitution says nothing about the training of American force abroad or at home.
Posse Comitatus has nothing to do with training. There is also a line of thought that it would apply to the Marines anyway, the Marine Corps is part of the Dept. of the Navy. Not the Department of the Army (or war department) that was listed in the PC statues in the 1800s.

And as I said before I wish all those that are "concerned" would have a relative in the MEU. That way if they get their way and Americans get injured because of not being trained they would have a relative at risk.

STLRN,
Geeze, don't get so bent! I was only asking a question. That is why I included the request for a proper legal answer.

I am not getting bent out shape. But as I said it is almost weekly that some one says something that doesn’t make sense about the Marine Corps, or the other services for that matter. When someone tries to resolve some of the misunderstanding, or the actual reason something is occurring, we are almost always told: 1) we don’t know what we are talking about (that is always great from a non-Marines telling me what the Marine Corps is doing). 2) Told that we are only exposing the government line. 3) told that you are an example of poor quality of officers that is coming in today (the fact that I have almost 11 years of commissioned and enlisted service, or that I am considered by both the Marine Corps and the Army a Subject Matter Expert on what I instruct (fire support and field artillery)doesn’t even factor in, the only thing that does is I don’t agree with their point of view or am correcting a fallacy that they are trying to push off as the truth).

The same people who are so concerned with what they military is supposedly doing in regards to the guns in the US probably said nothing about the 19 Marines that died in the crash of the MV-22 this weekend. Now, the military is not the only job in which people put their lives on the line. But unlike (of course excluding LEO and fire fighters) the average civilian job there seems to be a lot of funerals for people in the killed in the line of duty.
