I hope they have a lot of food!

I mean if things every really *do* go to crap, alot of people would go "oh no, I have no way to defend my family/home/posessions/whatever" and would pay alot for a gun.

And just what are they going to pay you with?

If things really go to crap, money ain't gonna be worth very much. Only things with real world utility will have value. Paper money? maybe for toilet paper! Gold and gems? Only if somebody wants them. Food? yep, always. Guns? Only if you have ammo (and some spare parts?)

I direct your attention to the parable of the chicken, the Krugeraand and the cartridge.

Now, if things don't get quite that bad, your handguns will still be worth money, in value, if not in currency. Even if outlawed, somebody will have a desire for them, if you don't mind breaking a few laws.

Well you would trade them for things *they have* that *you need*. Doesn't really matter what that is at that point, values would be totally different. Food would be good, but who knows what would hold value at that point. I think value in that situation would be more what each person needs.

gun nut I figure if you can't count it on one hand (4 fingers and 1 thumb I included this to try and head off any questions about how many fingers anyone may or may not have) its many.

Ha! You stole my answer!

Depends on who you ask... Many is the number I had 30+ years ago. IF you ask my wife.

Many to me is a few dozen more than what I have now. And it doesn't matter how many that is... it is still many if I had a few dozen more...:D

#

1 = one
2 = a couple
3-5 = a few
6-10 = several
10-20 a bunch
20 + a freaking pile
50 + I have a problem and my be gettig divorced
100 + Would you like to see my compound and possibly learn more about my religion and the comet we believe is a God?

Just a joke don't get excited

I voted in the '7 to 12' category because I did a quick count in my
head and came up with 10. But now that I think about it, there may
be more.
However, I don't want to stop-down and go look in the safe
right now, so I'll go with 10. A nice round number.:D

When I have more than one a piece for each family member, that's too many, but that only applies to handgun, that won't be considered too much/many firearms. Besides the handgun, I need to get them each a rifle, then someone have to have a third gun for crowd control......you know just in case for the "all hell breaks loose" day:D

To me, anything under 100 is just "A bunch". If you ask my wife, anything over 1 is many. General conversation with my wife:

Me: Morning Babe!
Her: When are you going to get rid of all those handguns?
Me: 6 isn't all that many.
Her: They smell.
Me: How do they smell? Like metal and oil? It's not like they were marinated in garbage.
Her: They're expensive.
Me: I'm the one that saves for them!
Her: You could spend that on something else. For instance, My diamond isn't big enough. You obviously don't love me.
Me: I want a divorce.
Her: What?
Me: *Sigh* Nothing.

Skan: The little lady and I just staged a reading of your last post... she's in stitches with laughter now (some guys get all the luck, eh:D)

I'm in an awesome position right now where she has dubbed the next gun we buy is hers... so I have to hurry up and make that happen because I want a new rifle...:p

LOL! I needed a good laugh thanx. The trick is to get a girl that likes guns but even that backfires. I took my girl to a gun show to look for a gun for her. She walked all around the show looking at everything then stopped at a table pointed to a brand new Sig Elite ($1400) and said "that one" In my head Im saying "yep... should have stuck to ear rings"

A while back I was at my dad's house and decided to jog my memory on some of the guns in the safes that I have there. My stepmother, and my girlfriend were also there to see inside. (Neither had seen the whole collection) jaws were on the floor. 2 of the safes were filled by my grampa. One is my personal acumulation from the past 14 years of buying. There are 37 in my personal safe. Most of those are long guns. Many of those being milsurp stuff that I picked up at bargain basement prices. The 2 from grampa have well over 60. That is not counting the 8 that are in safe deposit. They range from a match lock repro to a variety of hand guns, many were customized by grampa. I have only sold 2 guns in my whole life. When I see the pricetags on some to replace those I regret it every time.

absolutely right answer

well, usually there are multiple facets to an issue, however the answer to this one is "written"........many handguns= more that I have. :D

Many Guns

My wife thinks I have "many" guns, and I don't know how many I have off the top of my head, so maybe I have "many".

Glad I could oblige you guys with a laugh! And I'm not really interested in getting rifles just to have rifles. I want a POF 7.62x51 AR, and It's $2500. Slowly but surely......

She walked all around the show looking at everything then stopped at a table pointed to a brand new Sig Elite ($1400)

That makes sense. She probably saw the word Platinum on the slide........

I myself own 8 handguns, 4 revolvers 4 semi-auto. My wife only owns three, but she's tryin' to catch up to me. In my opinion you can never own too many guns, and for more reasons then one.Hell, I've got a walk-in closet strictly for ammo! I like to keep at least 300rds of ammo for each gun,not to mention hand loads.
