Manurhin PP vs Makarov (Bulg)

denfoote,

I'll even argue your right to make that choice, this is still America! :D My only point is that the specific requirements were a plinking gun, so the "power" of the cartridge isn't much of a factor IMO.

Ok, time to stick my nose in this one.

Since I am the one that posted the original question, I will say this:

Yes, the post did get a little off track. Yes lots of OPINIONS were stated. But, anytime you ask somebody else (or a group for that matter) a question, you have to expect some wandering. I feel that since it was my question, if it was going in a direction that I didn't like, I would have asked to get back to brass tacks and answer the question. I took all the information, threw out what I thought was not pertinent to my decision, and then made my decision.

PLEASE don't take this as a flame. I just wanted to say that we all have a tendency to say someone got off track, when it is really up to the original poster of that thread to decide if things go in a direction he/she doesn't want.

Thanks to EVERYONE for their input. TFL is a great place!!!!

:)

Okay, I guess I will get my 2 cents in.....

Just for plinking I would go with the Mak. While recoil is greater, ammo is cheaper than .32ACP (and the mak -of course- is more powerful.....:D ) So, I think you made the right choice.

I think the "ammo is cheaper" argument is a very good one. If plinking is the plan...that means lots of ammo.
My .32 cal. guns (Mauser Pocket Pistol & CZ-50) kick just about as hard as my Mak...but the Mak is much more accurate.
What really suprised me was that Denfoote would recomend a Mak? What's the world coming to?

FROGGIE WALTHERS

SINCE WWII THEY ALL WERE UNTIL WALTHER AND INTERARMS DECIDED TO MAKE THEM HERE IN THE U S A.
I HAVE A SCHIZO PP 32ACP [ WELL OKAY A 7.65MM ] THAT HAS ALL MANURHIN MARKINGS DOWN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PISTOL AND ALL WALTHER MARKINGS DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE OF IT. IT WAS IN A WALTHER BOX COMPLETE WITH THE CORRECT SERIAL NUMBER WHEN I BOUGHT IT 15 OR 20 YEARS AGO.
AS PER USUAL WITH ALL THESE PP OR PPk PISTOLS, THE SLIDE JUST EATS MY GUN HAND ALIVE. THAT IN ITSELF IS NO BIG DEAL BUT PURTY SOON IT HAS FLICKED SO MUCH BLOOD ON MY GLASSES I CAN'T SEE A DADBLASTED THING.

Terry Murbach, you are right as always. It is the rails that eat the web of your hand and not the hammer. All I know is I am very careful how I hold a PP series pistol. My intent is to avoid another set of twin track marks that ooze blood. Regards, Richard

My hope is you did not put any faith in the recommendations of Denfoote.

His ramblings about the superiority of the Makarov are pure evil. He should be shunned for his corrupting ways.

Yes, I am a victim of Denfoote influence.

For you see, he is to blame for me becoming the worlds happiest Bulgarian Makarov Owner.

Every time I strap on my Bulgarian beauty, and go about my business in this world, I do so knowing I have an entirely reliable pistol, that cost me very little, and which is a dream to shoot accurately.

Thanks alot Denfoote!!!!!!

You are the greatest:D
