As others have stated buy a colt it will retain it's value much better than most other brand ar's

I have 2 colt ar15's which have been very accurate and reliable these past 20 years

If $1500 is the limit, get a Noveske. Hold a Colt or a RRA next to a Noveske and the difference in quality is immediately apparent.

Lots of Colt love here! Rock River is also very nice, but cheaper price doesn't always mean inferior product. I got my DPMS for $700 two years ago, and I've already pounded about 10,000 rounds of every ammo you can think of through it without a hitch (other then occasional lack of cleaning). Very happy with it! Regardless of brand, she is awesome and he should be ecstatic

To be fair, you're comparing an apple and an orange, there. Noveske and RRA aren't in the same ballpark. The Colt and the Noveske are, and they're both darn good.
