M1A, fit and finish issues.

That's an ugly gas cylinder. I don't know how they let that out of quality control. My new M1A's gas cylinder looks a lot better. You might just want to get a USGI cyliner anyway and don't mess with the cast parts.
 
One of my M1ANM's looks about the same, and yeah it is ugly!

BUT, it will shoot a 1/2" 100 yard group, so who cares!

I would be more worried about someone screwing up that accuracy then how it looks.

Just a different thought.

Besides did you buy it to shoot or to look at?
 
I'm sure SA will make it right however, no way should a gun of that $$$ leave the factory. Send it back.............NOW!!
 
It's the gas cylinder that's ugly, not the op rod, sorry.

Peter, I tend to agree with you, except, I also agree, if that's screwup is so visable, how is going on internally on the parts I can't see? Quality control and fit and finish tells a lot about the longevity of an item IMHO, and how much love+care someone has put into the item.
