M16A2 reliability

Here is my experience.

AR
My Bushmaster shorty which has been fored over 3,000 rounds in less than 1 year and it has had zero FTF.

My RRA's AR-15.com LEGP has been fired 2,200 rounds in past 3 months with zero FTF.

AK
I have a MAC-90 which has fired over 8,000 rounds and I had 1 FTF (short stroke) and that was due to bad ammo (my reload was too weak).

I had a SAR-2 which fired just under 1,200 rounds. I had 3 double feed during that time and it was not magazine related. Got rid of it.

Mini-14/Ranch Rifle
I have/had 7 of these Ruger rifles in past 12 or so years and between them they fired over 17,000 rounds. During that time I think I had about 15 FTF and they were usually related to aftermarket hi-cap magazine. When using factory 20 or 30 round mags I don't think I had more than 1 or 2 FTF from these 7 rifles.

Each time I go out I shoot about 200-500 rounds and each rifle gets cleaned after 400-800 rounds so these guns were not given extra ordinary amount of cleaning or care.

I guess this shows that most rifles are very reliable when give some care and fed with reliable magazine. I would expect 1 FTF out of 1,000 would be acceptable in most cases.

Only with this AR15 word was that it was loaded with a pistol powder rather than the appropriate rifle powder. kaBOOM!

As for everyone else's comments, I hold much the same opinion. Owning 3 AR15s I've had great success with all of them with the only reliability issues being attributed to magazines or ammo. Had a few magazines that desperately needed the improved green followers to cure the 28th round misfeed where the bolt misses the base of the cartridge and the ammo problems were due to trying to use those 52grain Speer hollow points that have a HUGE front cavity opening, they rammed straight into the barrel extension catching the base before entering the feed ramps.

I've run thousands of rounds through the 3 different ARs(2 factory spec Bushmasters and a custom DPMS AR15) now though and they've been reliable as can be, I expect the same performance from any M16 of similar quality.
