Well.....I would rather it NOT fire out of battery than have it FIRE out of battery. And a piece of cardboard that size might keep it out of battery. Any gun, even an AK.

How dare you speak ill of the almighty AK. Don't you know the AK can be loaded with bits of glass and nothing else after it has been sitting in mud underneath a tractor trailor for 100 years and an uneducated peasant woman can still get it to shoot..

It was in the barrel extension..where the locking lugs turn.

Yep, so the bolt does not turn and lock in the lugs. Kindof the definition of "out of battery" in an AR.
