M&P15 Sport is on the way!

called 5 gun shops in my area today and was finally able to get one ordered. the shop owner told me it would be $650 but after a little bargaining he agreed to sell it to me for $599. will be able to pick it up Tuesday! Can't wait to get this.

does anybody have any suggestions on accessories. scope, mags, etc?

abndoc and waymore, congratulations to both of you. I hope you enjoy your new rifles when you get them.

I'm hitting the range tomorrow to shoot mine for the first time. I plan to zero it and then put about 100 rounds through it to check for accuracy and reliability. I'll report back tomorrow evening on how it goes. I'll be firing PMC 55 grain remanufactured ball ammo. I bought a box of 250 for $90.00 at Cabela's a month ago.

Be sure to give it a thorough cleaning and lube. The stuff that was on the rifle when it shipped is not what you want on it when you get to the range.

Waymore - change out the handguard and buttstock (my suggestion is Mapul MOE) and for mags get PMags (comes with one - more is better).

Here's a picture of mine.

picked mine up over lunch hour today couldn't wait till 5:00 to go home and look it over. I love it. the shop owner had never seen one and agreed that it is a much better rifle than the DPMS that he sells for $650. He told his dealer to send him as many as they find he loved it. I got two extra pmags @
$14 per unit. has anyone had trouble with pmags? I've heard of some people getting duds.

I like that set up Marquez.

Not a single problem w/ 9 Pmags used on two AR15s.

@waymore - Thanks, it's nothing special but it's functional. The MOE buttstock is tighter (less play) than the factory and the MOE handguard has the heat shield with the capability to add sections of rail for accessories. I changed the grip to Hogue because I like how it fits my hand and feels grippier than the one it comes with.

For all the new owners, I hope your Sport functions 100% and are as accurate as everyones has been. Keep us posted about your range report and any mods (pictures).

Safe Shooting!

My 30-round Pmags have always been 100%.

However, this has not been the case with my 20-rounders. Sometimes, the cartridges get a little "crossed" in them (when loading from stripper clips), leading to double-feeds. I know that sounds couter-intuitive, but just my observations.

Well, better late than never! Here's my first range report with my new M&P15 Sport.

I bought my M&P15 Sport on October 11 and just took it to the range today. Work has been crazy! I fired 120 rounds through it. 55 grain ball from Remington.

It took 24 rounds, using 3 shot groups to zero it at 100 yards. Ultimately, I adjusted the elevation down about 5 clicks and the windage left a tad. I went back and forth a couple times, left and right, to make sure I was maintaining a consistent sight picture. I shot from the bench with my range bag as support. At the end, all shots were in the 10 or 9 ring and I was satisfied considering the support I was using and a slight wind.

I fired another 100 rounds sitting supported and standing unsupported. The rifle ran great. No feed or ejection problems of any kind. I fired both fast and slow paying attention to how the rifle cycled. I used 4 different Magpul P mags.

Overall, a great range session! The gun functioned as it was supposed to and it felt great.

So did we decide that this is a good deal, or are there expensive parts that would need to be replaced, so that a different rifle would be a better basic AR?

Personally, I think it's a great deal. I'm pretty sure the Sport is manufactured to the same specs as the other M&P Rifles except where noted (No forward assist, no dustcover, Melonite finished barrel as opposed to Chrome lined). The Gun is solid and performed well in my one range session.

If you can handle one somewhere, do so and decide for yourself.

The S&W MP AR are nice rifles from a great company. Not everyone wants to spend top dollar for a two grand AR15.

I don't own one since its easier in CA to build your own cheaper. I really like this outfit and they have a rifle now for the same price. Their lowers are well machined too. Good company and service for us CA people. Just wanted to mention.

LGS had a sale this weekend for them and they claimed they sold out in two hours. I was pretty upset and ended up ordering a olympic arms plinker plus flat top. I still want to get a "sport" some time by the end of next year. Can't wait to hear how it does.
