M&P Shield locked up!

If the pistol has an external extractor you can also sometimes get it to release the case by pushing inward on the rear of the extractor, which will push the front of the extractor with the claw off the case. Then you can push the slide rearward and lock it back, and if need be use a dowel or brass rod to knock the case out from the muzzle.

I got it out... it was just the case in the barrel. Everything looked good. You can see the Tulammo case had cracked, though. After cleaning, and firing 50+ rounds trouble free it looks like the cheap Russian ammo was to blame. Guess you really do get what you pay for.

BTW, The rear of the extractor can be pushed to release the case. If this should happen again I'll have that to do.

This was a first for me with Tulammo.... first time with any ammo actually. I've used Tul 9mm, 40, 380, 45, and a few rifle rounds. I don't feel as bad having an issue with cheap stuff. Just glad it wasn't the pistol... a few hundred round might confirm that, though ;-)

^ shot all those and 308 n 223....never really had an issue except 5 or 6 hard primers in 45 that didn't fire first strike.

I reload now so that beats tula prices...LOL

Glad it all worked out.

My comment is hindsight ...or a little late.

When something like this happens ,until it is positively verified there is not a loaded round in the chamber, the firearm must be considered hot and loaded.

A rod or pencil can be inserted in the muzzle, length noted If it almost reaches the breech face, empty brass in the chamber. If its an inch or so short, you hit a bullet and have a loaded round.

After years of shooting. My rule on combloc steel cased ammo is it belongs in combloc guns. I shoot brass cased ammo in everything else.

Gun authors and youtube reviewers that are given free guns to test out are welcome to shoot all the steel cased ammo they want. They don't own those guns.

I have shot a fair amount of tula, and although it is my favorite Russian steel round of the 4 major's, it is also the only one I had an issue with. ar15 in .223, the extractor broke the brittle rim off and with the steel tight in the chamber. wasn't a huge deal, but it's never a good feeling to be pounding on a cleaning rod muzzle side. steel doesn't spring back after expansion the same way brass does, and it's not as malleable, so when something is off then it's usually stuck in there pretty good and takes a fair amount of force to release it. I have had many stuck rounds in pistols, using boolit's that were too large, simunition w/o a conversion barrel, poor case flare reduction on my part etc, they have always been able to be removed via muzzle on a wood surface, clearing the barrel, and pounding on the back of the pistol. not fun and can mar up your finish, but it works,

With all due respect,
Many report no problems shooting this relatively cheap and available ammo.
I don't abuse my guns by firing most foreign military surplus ammo, particulary known corrosive or steel cases.
