lube??

It never occurred to me to use anything but gun lubes on guns. I've been using gun-specific lubes for at least 30 years....I'm not sure I'd trust anything else. 3-n-1 probably works great in Grandma's Singer sewing machine but I'm sure as heck not pouring it in my Sig or S&W.

LOL!
The old adage. Grease if it slides, oil if it rotates.
But Glock kinda threw that one out the window. A tiny little drop of oil spread in only a couple places.
When it comes to a Glock. If you think you don't have enough oil on it, you probably already have too much!
Grease if it slides? Then why do we lube wheel bearings with grease?

Because they are on vehicles, and the old adage is about guns!
Like I said, there are exceptions. Glock says only oil, and not very much of it.

>>I've been using Amsoil in my motorcycles for over 20 years & was thinking of giving their gun lube a try on my next oil order to see what its like<<

Same on this end, and I did add a couple of bottles to my last order. It works as well as anything else I guess, and tends to stay on in its semi liquid state forever. I can't speak for its long run efficacy though, but it's worth a try.

My dad used 3n1 oil for many years until he switched to WD-40. I agree it's not a lube but when I got his guns after he died they weren't gummy or sticky and they didn't have varnish built up in them. They were just dry. To me tho after smelling his guns and using it myself on my guns when I was young they just aren't clean if they don't smell like 3n1. I might use whatever is available on the inside but I like 3n1 on the outside.

I have always wondered about that myself. A piston slides, but oil works just fine. Matter of fact, a modern high performance racing motorcycle runs at 12,000 RPM. If Mobile One can keep it from self destructing, it would laugh at what a gun requires for lube. Yea, guns and cars aren't the same, but the basic fundamentals of motion, be it sliding or rotating, is exactly the same no matter the parts.
