loudest rifle

There is a reason people wear double hearing protection when shooting M107s and other 50 BMGs. Because the brake is ridiculously loud.

Mosin nagant m44 is pretty loud. I was out shooting and there was a guy about 200 yards away from me who walked over and said "thats the loudest thing I've heard out here". That made my day. He literally walked 200 yards to tell me that.

The loudest I have heard (.338 Lap included) was a little .223 carbine with the JP muzzle brake. Whatever his load was, it would form a basketball size and color muzzle flash each side of the brake and blast to match. Stunning.

I remember someone shooting an M4A1 with a brake called a "flash enhancer"

I could feel it in my chest from a good way off.

Almost as loud as a .50 BMG from my perspective.

Not exactly a rifle, but the loudest shoulder fired anything I've heard is an AT4.. no comparison to a regular rife. You feel it as much as you hear it, and I wasn't even close to it! :D

I must say the loudest rifle, I have ever heard has to be a braked 338-378WBY. This is a monster cartridge. I shoot and reload for 300WBY and 340WBY, which most people consider grossly overpowered, they hold over 90gr of some powders, the 378's will hold 120gr plus. I thought at one time that I would like one, but nah, enough is enough!

I have to agree with handlerer2, anything on a 378 Weatherby case is going to be loud (7mm-378, 30-378, 338-378, etc). I like to think the loudest I have personally fired was my 8mm Rem Mag. I have heard and felt some that actually made me feel queasy, even with ear protection. The 378 Weatherby is one of them, 340 Weatherby is another.

Yep, my brother has an 8mm Rem Mag, it has stopped the firing line at our club, the muzzle flash and fireball is rediculus, it's like an Iowa class battleship firing a broadside.

It broke the magazine floorplate "holder inny" spring and dumped all the cartridges on the ground once. It's really, really, loud. Almost like Civil War cannon loud. Seriously, it's laughably loud. No kidding, it's just amazing.

Though I'll have to say that a guy shooting next to me with a Browning 7mm Rem Mag with barrel ports was just unreal. It was higher pitched, the 8mm Mag is like a punch in the face, but that 7mag was like a dental drill in your ear.
